$175,000.00/yr - $225,000.00/yr

Our client is a leading developer, financier, and operator of distributed generation, community solar and energy storage assets, that serve commercial, industrial, municipal, and utility clients across the United States.


Position Overview: They seeking a seasoned Director of Project Management with extensive experience in managing renewable energy projects, particularly in community solar, DG and energy storage projects. This role involves overseeing a dedicated team responsible for the development and construction of small to medium-sized solar PV, community solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and PV+BESS projects. The Director will play a crucial role in expanding their renewables project pipeline, with a focus on the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, California and other emerging markets across the U.S.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and implement best practices, processes, and policies to align project management activities with corporate strategy. Develop and consult on measurement strategies, tools, scorecards, and surveys across the organization.
  • Act as a key leader within the company by working closely with Finance, Project Development, Asset Management, Engineering, and Operations teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Build and lead the project management team, including day-to-day oversight of tasks and operations, ensuring adherence to safety standards and embodying a Safety-First culture.
  • Establish and maintain effective project management governance, procedures, tools, and financial controls.
  • Enhance the project management organization’s capabilities, including program and project governance, delivery skills, and continuous process improvement.
  • Supervise the preparation and negotiation of EPC contracts, procurement contracts, and scope of work/statement of services. Evaluate and award contracts to engineering firms, consultants, vendors, and EPC partners.
  • Manage internal and external financial reporting, including project budgets, cash management, pay applications, and payment schedules.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with equipment and service suppliers, serving as the primary point of contact.
  • Conduct manufacturing facility and construction site visits to ensure proper QA/QC measures are followed for procured equipment.


Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, construction management, or a related field. Alternative degrees in project management, economics, business, finance, or energy are also acceptable.
  • At least 6 years of demonstrated leadership experience in project management or maintenance management, particularly in the electric or energy sector. Familiarity with the ESS storage and solar PV construction process, EPC obligations, and OSHA/federal safety practices is essential.


Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong math and problem-solving abilities, with proficiency in developing complex analyses.
  • Familiarity with medium and low voltage electrical systems and components.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ideally AutoCAD.
  • PMP certification and experience with Project Management or Project Engineering Principles are highly desirable.
  • Ability to work effectively with company executives, board members, suppliers, consultants, and various stakeholders. Strong negotiation skills and the ability to navigate complex management situations are essential.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the U.S. as required for project evaluations, management compliance, and quality assurance.
