Esplanade Golf and CC is located just miles from the pristine beaches of the Gulf of Mexico in beautiful Naples, Florida. Esplanade features a premier sports court facility. The Director of Sport Courts, is responsible for the overall operation of the sports court facility which includes Tennis, Pickleball and Bocce operations. Working within the framework of the club and Cliff Drysdale Management, the Director will run an operation that aligns with the goals and vision of the club and services, its members and their guests, as well as club employees.

Qualified applicants will have extensive experience in pickleball and tennis programming and instruction. Compensation consists of salary plus commission.

Job Expectations And Essential Duties

  • More than 50% of your work schedule will be of an administrative and supervisory nature. A strong administrative skill set is required within operations and racquet sports management. In addition, a strong Microsoft 365 skill set is required.
  • Demonstrate a strong and experienced teaching background in both Tennis and Pickleball for players from social/beginner level to advanced and competitive levels, with the appropriate updated certifications for each.
  • Salary includes all duties described in the job responsibilities as well as 6 corporate days to assist in corporate level events or trainings, etc. Corporate days will be assigned to you by the corporate office.
  • Teach between 20-25 hours per week with appropriate and focused attention given to both sides of the racquets program in tennis and pickleball.
  • Engage with the sports court’s community on all 3 court sports. Additionally, participate with the community that are not involved in paid programming.
  • Promote and facilitate intra club tournaments, special events and pro-am events for the club to engage participation of members from both the playing and spectator perspectives.
  • Maintain an annual and seasonal calendar for all sports and seasons for inter- and intra-club play.
  • Create a regular schedule of hours that you and your team are on-site.
  • When not on-site, be available on call for emergencies or appoint associates of your club or corporate to be on call.
  • Enforce all club and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Supervise all court play and proper charging of fees, including reciprocal play and guests and guest fees.
  • Initiate, direct and promote tennis and pickleball clinics, special events and programs to attract and maintain member tennis, pickleball and bocce interests.
  • Oversee and successfully manage the Bocce program and software.
  • Provide beginning through advanced instruction (private and group) for all levels and ages of players.
  • Implement and develop lesson programs and intra club round robin type events for all members in all sports.
  • Ensure proper inspection of the courts/facilities daily prior to the start of play and ascertain that all necessary maintenance has been performed and the courts are properly maintained and in a safe working order. Report any maintenance problems to the appropriate person.
  • Monitor court usage including special events, clinics and lessons and implement and manage court usage software where applicable
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning and directing work; evaluating performance, rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing members’ concerns and resolving problems.
  • Manage staff members which may include, but is not limited to, instructors, pro shop staff, maintenance staff.
  • Assure that effective orientation and training are given to each new staff member. Implement corporate training programs.
  • Manage the pro shop and merchandising, if applicable.
  • Responsible for knowing the facility POS system.
  • Implement the inventory control system policy and report results as required, ensuring revenue is properly recorded into POS system and reconciled daily to schedule.
  • Strong knowledge of sports merchandise to properly provide information to members.
  • Develop budgets within the goals set by the club and Corporate Operations.
  • Provide monthly reports as required by the club and Corporate Operations.
  • Maintain an accurate membership database.
  • Write and edit all sports-related news for the club newsletter, social media and website.
  • Develops a detailed annual calendar of tennis and pickleball activities and coordinate with Corporate Marketing on applicable promotion campaigns.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the club’s General Manager, non-court facility staff and Sports Committee.
  • Attend facility management and committee meetings and report to the General Manager and any other appointed member of the management team as designated by the club.
  • Regular and reliable attendance, including targeted weekend programming.
  • Incorporate safe work practices for you and the team in job performance.
  • Additional responsibilities as required.

Minimum: High school Education or GED. Skills in Microsoft 365.

Physical Demands

Frequently stands, walks, uses hands; talks and hears, reaches with hands and arms, climbs, balances; stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls. Occasionally sits. Regularly lifts up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.

Environment/Noise

Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. Noise level is moderate.

Job Knowledge, Skill, And Ability Preferences

  • Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the staff may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the staff may use are in English).
  • Minimum requirement level of a 4.5 for both pickleball and tennis ratings.

Reports to: Club General Manager for all club operations and job functions. In addition reports to CDT Senior Director for access to all support functions.
