Reporting to the Sr. Director, Finance Ops the Director, Procurement is responsible for developing and implementing our procurement strategy. At 1Password, we believe that Procurement is a function with three equally important areas of focus: employee experience, cost savings, and vendor experience. We are looking for a leader who will not only achieve fiscal objectives, but will also positively impact experiences of 1Password’s employees through creation of efficient, employee-friendly processes. In addition, they will enable our vendors to achieve shared goals around speed of execution and positive business relationships.

In this role, you will provide procurement support, lead the rollout of new procurement policies, and lead procurement staff, providing them with the resources they need to perform and grow.

This is a remote opportunity within Canada and the US.

What We're Looking For

  • 10+ years of experience in a procurement and vendor management role or related in a SaaS/Technology/Start-up environment and 2-5 years managing people
  • Proven success with software rationalization including developing and implementing long term procurement strategies
  • Excellent organizational skills with demonstrated experience with managing contracts and vendor performance with a high level of accuracy.
  • Demonstrated experience with building procurement workflows and establishing processes and best practices procurement infrastructure, with a focus on technology procurement
  • Demonstrated experience with using sourcing strategy and best practices to bring forward vendors who provide us with the ideal SaaS and technology solutions.
  • Excellent negotiation and collaboration skills to drive consensus and the best outcomes for 1Password
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders at all levels


What You Can Expect

  • Procurement User Experience:
  • Understand 1Password’s business needs and culture, and design Procurement policies and procedures which are well-received, well-understood, and well-liked by business stakeholders across the company.
  • Tailor level of Procurement’s involvement in different purchases based on significance, available time-to-execute, and potential for cost savings.
  • Be willing to educate the employee base about Procurement’s value-add.
  • Constantly seek informal and formal feedback from the employee base.
  • Strategic Procurement Management:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive procurement strategy aligned with 1Password's overall business objectives.
  • Establish cost containment goals with clear guidance on how to measure achievement.
  • Design and implement the best-in-class procurement process that achieves fiscal goals while receiving positive reviews from the employee user base.
  • Help the Company understand areas where redundant vendors might be in use. Develop a strategy to evaluate and mitigate vendor redundancies.
  • Translate Procurement strategy and objectives into a roadmap of projects for the year, ensuring projects are planned in time to meet business needs
  • Manage the Procurement staff, providing direction, support, and resources they need to perform and grow.
  • Vendor Relationship Management:
  • Proactively identify risks associated with key vendors and manage and monitor vendor performance against negotiated SLA and MSA terms
  • Manage vendor relationships, including renewals of the contracts and agreements.
  • Positively impact vendor relationships by creating processes that enable timely closure of negotiation processes with clearly set expectations for all the involved stakeholders.
  • Cross Collaboration:
  • Incorporate the needs of IT, Legal, Security, FP&A, and internal business partners into the best-in-class procurement process. Allow your cross-collaborators sufficient time and space to fulfill their business requirements, while staying true to the agreed execution timelines.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders including IT, Legal, Security, FP&A and internal business partners.
  • Collaborate with cross functional leaders on procurement planning, and provide comprehensive support on current and future initiatives requiring procurement support
  • Collaborate with the Accounts Payable team and leadership to form an efficient Procure-to-Pay process.
  • Process and Policy Development:
  • Lead the transformation of the procurement function to implement best practice through the procurement process
  • Lead the rollout of new procurement policies across the organization, ensuring all stakeholders are informed and trained.
  • Monitor and review procurement policies regularly to ensure they remain relevant and effective
  • Understand compliance, security, and privacy protocols our tools need to follow so that they meet our internal requirements and policies
  • Cost Control, Savings and Reporting:
  • Implement measures to control spend and foster a culture of long-term savings on procurement costs.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to optimize costs without compromising quality and service and in doing so achieve an annual cost savings target.
  • Partner with the Finance team to review insights into monthly vendor spending, track savings secured, and identify potential opportunities for additional savings.
  • Provide regular reports to senior management on procurement activities, savings achieved, and policy compliance.


USA-based roles only: The Annual base salary for this role is between $175,000 USD and $237,000 USD, plus immediate participation in 1Password's benefits program (health, dental, 401k and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.

Canada-based roles only: The Annual base salary for this role is between $153,000 CAD and $207,000 CAD, plus immediate participation in 1Password’s generous benefits program (health, dental, RRSP and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.
