We’re a cognitive science company on a mission to optimize the measurement of brain health to advance the development of new medicines and to enable earlier clinical insights in healthcare.


That’s why we’re seeking a Director, Product Management, accountable for the long-term product strategy and product vision for Cogstate's Clinical Trials solutions. The Director, Product Management will be focused on customer outcomes by prioritizing features to create the product roadmap. The role will collaborate and drive alignment with the Science, Operations, Business Development, Product Development, Quality Control, Finance and Quality Assurance teams to ensure the successful creation and launch of new and incremental product releases. They will drive the development of design assets in the form of user personas, user stories, use cases, workflows and other supporting assets. They will ensure appropriate specifications for development and quality control needs are maintained and, as products near commercial release, they will oversee the production of user guides and training materials. The Director will possess commercial acumen and be able to articulate and understand commercial trade-offs in delivering outcomes for Cogstate.


This role will require extensive communication and collaboration between stakeholders in multiple geographies and functions, including close alignment with product management and development in other Cogstate business units, such as Healthcare, to identify and leverage synergies around features and capabilities.


Salary range: $160,000 - $190,000 per annum. Benefits outlined below.


Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, define, and benchmark existing clinical trials products and services.
  • Create and maintain end user and customer personas and profiles.
  • Define vision and mission for the development of clinical trials products and services, including decentralized clinical trials, partner integrations, self-service, and data science.
  • Create a product roadmap, prioritizing features and resource allocation consistent with the needs of end users and customers and the Cogstate vision.
  • Plan and prioritize product and service development work, clearly identifying and measuring efficiency savings and ROI.
  • Engage directly and regularly with end users and customers via interviews, focus groups and other techniques to develop and maintain a clear understanding of need and the external environment.
  • Engage directly and regularly with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and support the execution of approved product roadmaps by collaborating with internal/external product development & QA/RA resources to launch new offerings, and coordinate handover to Operations.
  • Support the management of entire product lifecycle, including product replacement and phase-out (when appropriate).
  • Ensure satisfactory product performance once products are launched. When required, lead product issue resolution by working closely with internal & external product/testing/support resources.
  • Assist with pilot customers and early adopters.
  • Perform market assessments.
  • Support pricing and revenue modeling.
  • Define and track success metrics.
  • Identify and work with stakeholders to develop detailed product requirements including user personas, user stories, workflows, navigation maps, and specifications.
  • Conduct customer interviews and user testing.
  • Run design sprints, including high-fidelity designs, where applicable.
  • Work in close collaboration with Product owner, translating business-to-technical requirements, and vice versa.
  • Support collaboration with strategic partners, such as channel partners (when appropriate for product interface and/or product integration).
  • Work collaboratively with Operations, Product Development, Quality Control, and Quality Assurance to support the documentation and design needs for these groups to effectively perform their responsibilities.
  • Works with partner technology providers to ensure integration and successful implementation (e.g., eCOA, telehealth, data management, and scheduling tools).
  • Align, collaborate and create synergies with product management and development efforts from other Cogstate business units, and/or functions such as Healthcare and Research.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a scientific or a technical discipline (psychology, nursing, biology, sociology, computer science or engineering).
  • Minimum 10 years product management or related product planning/development experience, with 5 of that being in clinical trials, clinical research, medical device, or related healthcare industries.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment preferred.
