Position Description:
- Analyzing drilling processes and procedures.
- Developing process enhancement strategies. Document any recognized improvement opportunities and distribute them to direct supervisors for review.
- Focus area will require onsite observations to determine baseline, implement initiative, and record progress. Document pre-initiative practices and times of each event.
- Establishing norms and standards of drilling performance.
- Collaborating with other stakeholders when necessary to enhance productivity.
- Communicating ideas and opinions to drilling group.
- Training, mentoring, and guiding team members in new processes.
- Staying up to date with developments in process optimization.
- QA/QC of directional vendors tools, processes, etc. to reduce downhole NPT.
- Accountable for tracking and reporting on NDT (non-drilling time) performance. Based on the data, determine improvement opportunities and work with Drilling Ops team and drilling contractors to execute Monthly NDT Report and Quarterly KPI Report.
- Review and track vendor evaluations and communicate with vendors. Follow up to ensure there are no reoccurrences that impact safety and/or performance.
- Accountable for the team partnering with Supply Chain Management on key projects/initiatives, including: Daily Inventory management and optimization of drill pipe, optimization of surface rental equipment by rig, and provide vendor feedback for upcoming RFQ and drilling contractual agreements.
- Help develop checklists and planners for each initiative from observations and feedback gathered. Provide onsite coaching to the affected parties. Monitor progress after implementation of the initiatives and provide feedback as to what is working well and any adjustments that may be necessary for improvement.
- Interact with the contractors, vendors, and employees on a professional level. Initiate the bridge building. A large part of the success of these projects relies on the positive active involvement from the field, which is a direct result of the relationships developed.
Requirements:
- Minimum 10 years recent Drilling Engineer experience.
- Recent OK/ Midcon Basin experience.
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering.
- Basic computer skills required (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Well View, Well Drive, Spotfire, Power BI).
- Must demonstrate problem-solving skills and the ability to work as a team member. Strong interpersonal skills necessary. Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written.
