Early Childhood Assessment Support Data Coach

Job Goal

To support Partner LEAs with strategic district development as it relates to assessment implementation, administration, data submission, and data-driven instructional decision-making in the early childhood grades (PK-2) while leveraging change management strategies to meet established goals. Provide technical assistance to campus-and district-level staff as it relates to the grant purpose and goals.

Qualifications

Education/Certification/Licensure

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Texas Teacher Certificate or related professional certificate/licensure

Experience

  • Experience with coaching and/or working with district leaders toward established goals
  • Experience in coaching roles in the areas of assessment and data-driven instruction with a proven track record of measurable student achievement
  • Experience leading teams at a district and campus level
  • Experience in early childhood grade levels Prekindergarten – Grade 2, preferred

Special Knowledge And Skills

  • Broad-based knowledge of assessment implementation and data-driven instructional practices.
  • Ability to strategize and analyze when reviewing a considerable amount of data.
  • Exemplary written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience in public presentations and communicating complex information.
  • Skill in recognizing the need to prototype in new projects and iterate along the way, expecting the ultimate design to look different than the original idea.
  • Development of effective and collaborative working relationships with diverse individuals and groups including district administrators, teachers, education experts, and all other relevant stakeholders.
  • A desire to self-reflect, give/receive feedback and continuously improve.
  • Prior experience using data analysis software and communication tools, including leveraging formulas in Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets and Microsoft PowerPoint/Google Slides.

Major Responsibilities

  • Work with the Grant Coordinator and Data Coach Lead to meet the grant program guidelines as determined by the Texas Education Agency (TEA).
  • Provide statewide support for the adoption and implementation of assessment tools in prekindergarten through grade 2.
  • Assist school leaders analyze prekindergarten through grade 2 assessments and use the knowledge to inform decision-making processes.
  • Work with district and school staff to set goals and monitor progress through the analysis of assessment data.
  • Support districts to use the data produced to improve the effectiveness of classroom instruction in PK through grade 2.
  • Provide district and school staff with professional development in topics such as assessment literacy, data-driven instruction, data literacy, and assessment best-practices.
  • Assist district staff in building effective processes to ensure timely and accurate data submission to the Early Childhood Data System.
  • Provide statewide technical assistance, based on TEA-defined best practices, related to the utilization of assessment data (along with other ongoing data sources) at the campus and district levels to drive effective system-level efforts.
  • Provide regular communication to the Data Coach Lead documenting all project activities, including monthly and/or as requested.
