Job Summary

Barings’ Global Sovereign Debt and Currencies Team is seeking an Economist to support growth of the Emerging Markets product platform with a specific focus on the Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium (DSGE) model. This position will report to the Head of Sovereign Debt and Currencies and will reside preferably in the Boston, MA office, and possibly in the London, UK office.

Primary Responsibilities

• Take a lead role in the team’s investment models such as Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium (DSGE) model, inflation forecast model, and GDP nowcast model.
• Conduct in-depth country analysis focused on sustainable long-term investment returns.
• Contribute to the team’s investment views and market risk assessment.
• Present investment process and investment views to key institutional and retail clients around the world.
• Leverage their deep knowledge of Emerging Markets, understanding of critical client needs and informed perspective of the Emerging Markets competitive landscape to help facilitate research progress, enhance investment debates and develop innovative products.
• Collaborate with other investment teams and functional departments within Barings LLC
  
  
  

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge and hand-on experience of DSGE model required.
• Proficiency inR, Matlab, or other economic programing systems
• PhD degree in economics required
• Macroeconomics and International Economics/Finance preferred.
• Good understanding of monetary policy and business cycle.
• Econometrics and economic model building capabilities.
• Ability to work effectively and independently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to present effectively.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including teamwork and collaboration
