USAID Jordan Monitoring, Evaluation, And Learning Activity Overview

The Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Activity is designed to ensure USAID’s activities in Jordan achieve their intended results through monitoring and evaluation, strategic assessments, and USAID’s Collaborating, Learning, and Adapting approach (CLA). Kaizen helps USAID create a dynamic learning environment among development actors, focused on innovation, quality, and knowledge sharing. Through the Kaizen Accelerator, a rapid procurement mechanism, a cohort of Jordanian firms work with the Activity to successfully deliver activities while simultaneously strengthening their management and compliance systems. The Kaizen approach provides USAID with high-quality MEL services across its portfolio, builds the capacity of local Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) institutions, and ensure programs meaningfully incorporate local participation. The Activity team ensures program sustainability by building the technical and institutional capacity of one or more local firms that are capable of managing the follow-on MEL Activity in the future.

Responsibilities And Tasks

Kaizen is currently looking to recruit a short-term Editor to provide support to the Activity on a needs basis. The position would be managed under a Blanket Purchase Agreement with a set rate per page. Along with the CV, all applicants should provide a quoted rate in USD for each page edited. This Blanket Purchase Agreement is anticipated to be for one year. The anticipated level of effort is approximately 150 pages per month. Although the Activity is based in Jordan, any nationality may apply. Successful applicants will be expected to complete an editing test upon selection.

Responsibilities and tasks will include, but are not limited to:

  • Enhancing and improving text, proofreading, reviewing, and editing written and digital content. This includes evaluation/assessment reports, newsletters, success stories, flyers and brochures, and other outward-facing Activity related products
  • Ensure that final work products are error-free, consistent, and accurate
  • Review content for acronyms, abbreviations, and subject-specific nomenclature
  • Harmonization of the voice and flow throughout documents
  • Verification of spacing, font size, etc. as instructed by the Activity
  • Suggest process improvements throughexposure to editing and proofing procedures
  • Meet tight deadlines and manage multiple projects at any given time
  • Other similar editing duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in English, humanities, social sciences, international development, or a related field
  • Must be fluent in written and spoken English
  • Must have 2 to 4+ years of experience in writing and editing
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Detail-oriented, quick reader, and multi-tasker
  • Previous experience working with USAID-funded projects
