About The Role

Content is king, so our Editor is a "kingmaker" — practically royalty yourself! The Coronated Commander of Copy and Content Strategy. The Potentate of Best Practices. The Baron of Brief-Building. The Honorable Outliner. The Pontiff of Proofreading. The Pasha of Publishing... Have we taken the royal thing too far? Absolutely. Are we gonna stop? Not a chance.

Reporting to the Director of Content, you’ll work closely with other teams in and outside of Marketing to ensure we produce helpful, human, SEO-friendly content that moves people to act. Most days consist of convening, collaborating, calendaring, concepting, content strategizing, and (oh yes) copy editing (alliteration FTW!) You’ll manage a team of Copywriters — copy editing, coaching, mentoring, training, content scoring, and performance. You’ll measure what matters, receive and give feedback effectively, and be able to train, support, and motivate high-producers to take our Copy (and Copywriters) to the next level. At times you may be drafted to help out in other areas, too. “Drafted.” Get it?!

What You Need to Succeed

Some combo of 5+ years experience/education creating great copy and managing people, and an understanding of publishing or digital marketing is ideal. You’ll need to make sure our copy sounds human — real-world, relatable, reliable, revelatory stuff. None of the stuffy, boring-@$$ “marketing speaks” you hear every day and (god-forbid) nothing that could’ve been generated with AI. Critical thinking, creativity, attention to detail, and collaboration with others are must-have skills here.

You’re curious, organized, proactive, strategic, creative, and a great communicator. You know what it takes to mold great copy that moves an audience to action and how to manage content calendars. You rule at copy relevance for a plethora of audiences. And you’re passionate about coaching and mentoring Copywriters to produce really great content for real humans.

You’ll also be managing humans who write copy, so management experience is a plus (if not a must-have). You can communicate effectively and honestly, develop performance measures and training, and motivate, support, and guide Copywriters’ efforts with Company, Brand, best practices, and content strategy in mind.

Expected salary range of $70,000 to $100,000, plus 160 hours of PTO and two floating holidays (4+ weeks). Work Schedule & Location

This full-time role can be fully remote, a blend of partially remote/partially in-office, or fully in-office in Pleasant Grove, Utah. You’ll work that and your hours out with your manager.

Required / Preferred Skills And Experience

  • 5+ years in editing, content marketing, or a combo of closely related work/education
  • Ability to effectively manage Copywriters (prior management experience preferred)
  • Verifiable history of producing/publishing original SEO and human-friendly content
  • Mastery of “editing” skills for content for a variety of channels
  • Strong customer service mentality and skills and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to oversee the performance of others while also managing your workload
  • A mind for metrics and a desire to track success for yourself and your team
  • Knowledge of business insurance (or ability/interest to learn)
  • A humble, hungry, smart, and proactive attitude with a penchant for collaboration
  • Understanding of the differences/nuances for a variety of channels (e.g., landing pages, blogs, videos, emails, text messages, etc.) and ability to ensure copy produced matches each brand’s voice, style, and tone
  • Responsible to take on other duties as needed
