We seek a creative and entrepreneurial Editorial Assistant with a passion for engaging with visually-driven books to provide editorial and administrative support to the imprint, reporting to the VP/Publisher and the Executive Editor. This position is based in our New York office on a two-day per week hybrid schedule.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Communicate with authors, agents, and collaborators about all aspects of the publishing process, including queries, schedules, payments, etc.
- Read, report on, and draft responses to book proposals submitted for publication
- Help compile comparative title lists and profit & loss statements for projects under consideration
- Prepare contract requests and process payments
- Track title schedules throughout publishing process
- Write catalog, cover, and promotional copy; prepare title fact sheets and other selling materials; and manage title metadata
- Assist in editing acquired manuscripts
- Create and manage art logs, and manage digital assets from delivery through production and publication
- Traffic projects through Production, Copyediting, Art, Legal, Publicity, Marketing, and other departments
- Perform general administrative duties, including preparation of print materials, mailings, drafting correspondence, and facilitating group communications
- Coordinate meeting schedules, manage agendas, and take notes
- Assist with other projects as needed
- 1+ year of publishing experience preferred (internships okay) or other editorial work experience
- Excellent organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills
- Exceptional written and polished verbal communication skills
- Self-starter with ability to attend to details and juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint, plus Google Docs and Sheets
- Passion for visual books a must
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop) a plus

The compensation range for this position is $47,500. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
