EHS Manager is an on-site position that provides strategic assistance to ensure compliance with and effective implementation of: OSHA, EPA, DOT regulations as well as any other associated regulations.
Requirements
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Obtains and maintains all applicable regulatory permits
- Reviews/prepares all applicable OSHA and environmental reports and maintains supporting documentation
- Provides technical support to plant personnel regarding OSHA, state & federal environmental and DOT regulations
- Identifies continuous improvement opportunities to improve overall Health and Safety performance across the site
- Responsible for the Industrial Hygiene Monitoring Program for the plant
- Maintain all facility EHS records/files
- Participates in the new raw material review. Maintains chemical inventory for the site
- Manages and facilitates internal audit and inspection programs related to environment, health and safety
- Provides technical expertise to the review of equipment modifications, risk assessments, and capital installations
- Leads and actively participates in site safety committee and cross-plant teams as needed
- Provides EHS support for all shifts
- Leads investigations for all safety incidents, and injuries in conjunction with line and staff personnel
- Coordinates evaluation, purchase and distribution of safety equipment and supplies
- Manages site injuries and incidents including workers' compensation programs and guidelines
- Performs risk assessments on new and existing processes where appropriate. Develops hazard control practices and programs in conjunction with corporate EHS
- Coordinates installation, maintenance, and auditing of all security, fire protection equipment and alarms
- Stays up to date on regulatory requirements/issues
- Other duties as assigned
- Provides education and training to new employees and existing facility personnel on appropriate EHS programs.
- Analyzes training system effectiveness to identify and correct opportunities for improvement.
- Ensures training records and supporting documentation are current and maintained as appropriate.
- Maintains training system to ensure that supervisors/managers are aware of training needs for employees.
- Participates in Board of Review where necessary as an opportunity to improve plant training system.
- Prepares weekly reports summarizing key training data, activities and upcoming needs.
- Participation on projects, teams as required
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelors of Science degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Chemistry or related technical field, or equivalent work experience
- Knowledge of safety and health and environmental codes and regulations required
- Ability to train in all areas of safety and health
- Computer skills: Proficiency with word-processing and spreadsheet applications required (MS Word & Excel preferred)
- Strong organizational skills required
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
- Proven leadership competencies including problem solving, decision making, motivation, ethical performance, teamwork, results oriented.
- Knowledge of air permits, emissions reporting
- Knowledge of stormwater management
- Knowledge of hazardous waste management
- Three (3) to Five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing environment
