Job Title: Electric Engineer
Location: San Antonio, TX
Status: Active, Full-Time Position
Since its founding in 1983, Five Star Electric (FSE) has grown from a small motor distributor to become a dominant leader in the application of low and medium voltage systems involving variable speed drives, reduced voltage solid state starters, switchgear, power transformers, DCS / PLC systems, motor control panels and integrated power control rooms. DESCRIPTION:
Mission: To utilize both electrical and mechanical skills toward interpreting theoretical schematics, P&ID’s and/or process control narratives/descriptions in order to create a highly effective motor control panel/system for applications ranging from simple motor starting to complex control and monitoring systems.
Goal: To design motor control panels/systems that are superior to competition and to provide effective solutions by:
To design power and control circuitry
To design control panel mechanical layouts
To determine size of power components, wire, and over current protection
To determine heat loading and enclosure cooling requirements
To create bill of materials
To research and investigate control options and new technologies
To provide technical support, as well as Field support when required
To assist sales with pricing information
To assist/train wiring technicians when required
To assist with final testing when required
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma
1-3 years of experience in electrical control design and system implementation. Additional Field support experience preferred
Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical or AutoCAD LT design software
Experience with UL508A & NEC
Must Have Advanced Computer Skills. PLC/HMI Programming Experience Preferred.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Windows in general
Must work well with others on any level and show respect at all times

Preferred Qualifications:
Associates or Bachelor’s Degree
Electrical controls field service background
VFD knowledge and programming experience
PLC/HMI knowledge and programming experience
SCADA Knowledge and programming experience
Wireless telemetry knowledge and programming experience
Instrumentation experience
IT and Networking experience
Control Manufactures training credentials
