Electrical/Mechanical Technician

The Electrical/Mechanical/Instrumentation Calibration Technician is responsible for upgrades/repairs/maintenance for all the production equipment. This includes design of new components and modification of existing designs as required. Also, as part of his responsibilities is to perform instrumentation calibration maintenance on equipment and devices in the facilities to organization standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Electrical/Mechanical troubleshooting and repair of controls; including PLC, HMI, and vision systems.
  • Accountable for maintenance, optimization, and installation of various types of automation devices that are used in packaging, process, and plant operations.
  • Read and generate electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Fabricate, program, install, and debug control system panels.
  • Calibrate equipment and subcomponents per established procedures.
  • Use a PC to communicate to various devices to change parameters, upload/download settings, and logic to make devices operate as intended.
  • Back up all programmable device parameters and logic to ensure efficient recovery in the event of system/power failure.
  • Enter routine equipment repairs into maintenance software and/or write routine equipment repair reports
  • Use knowledge of cGMP and OSHA safety policies to ensure a safe working environment and proper reporting of concerns and injuries.
  • Follow Environmental Management System (EMS) procedures to protect the environment.
  • Apply basic electrical/mechanical theory to solve problems with equipment.
  • Equipment instrumentation calibration, set-up and maintenance

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

  • Knowledge of NIST, calibration instruments, and procedures.
  • Must be detailed oriented.



Education And/Or Experience

Preferred: A.S. in Maintenance, Engineering or Manufacturing Technology or equivalent Technical Degree

Desired: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment as a lead operator and/or technician

Considered: Minimum of 1 year experience in manufacturing environment.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of managers, subordinates or peers.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, standard deviations, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Understanding metrology basics and the use and conversion of units in the metric and English system.

REASONING ABILITY

Demonstrates the process of thinking that evaluates a situation in a logical manner to come to a conclusion. This Reasoning ability is developed on various parameters like experience, critical thinking abilities and emotions.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
