The Electrical Project Engineer will be part of the dynamic A/E Design team within SDB’s Design-Bid-Build operations. This team is primarily involved in the design of various project types within the Veterans Affairs Medical Center systems throughout the western United States. The position collaborates with all other design discipline staff and will assist senior Electrical Engineers with various design tasks.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in the electricalengineeringfield is required; power emphasis is preferred.
- 0-2 years of engineering design experience
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) certificate is preferred.
- Knowledge and experience in software such as AutoCAD and REVIT are preferred
- Proficiency in building and electrical codes and standards
- Management potential.
- Comfortable working in small teams.
- Ability to work efficiently independently.
- Flexibility to work on a variety of tasks.
- Hardworking and enthusiastic about learning
- Bi-lingual in English and Filipino (Tagalog) is preferred.
- Experience working with federal projects is preferred
- Candidates will develop electrical-engineered construction drawings and specifications in a variety of projects including but not limited to health care, higher education, data centers, mission-critical, and plant experience.
- Responsible for designing and specifying the following types of electrical systems: MV and LV electrical power systems, standby power and UPS power systems, lighting and control systems, telecommunications systems, fire alarm systems, nurse call systems, and lightning protection
- Assist with electrical engineering feasibility studies.
- Perform electrical engineering calculations
- Fundamental project management
- Responsible for the communication necessary with all parties to ensure a successful project.
- Have a solid understanding of the scope of the work to be performed
- Assist in delivering an end project that satisfies the Client
- Superior client-facing/ client relationship/client management skills and effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient utilization of MS Office software family products and Bluebeam.
- Participate in activities and organizations related to our industry outside of daily business routine, developing peer relationships, technical growth, and business contacts.
- Sitting at a desk and working on a computer for prolonged periods
- Able to lift 15 pounds at times
- Occasional travel to various VAMC sites for field investigation and construction inspection
