Overview

TRC’s Energy Transition Solutions team, within the Advanced Energy practice, is focused on developing and deploying decarbonization and transportation electrification solutions for our clients, focusing on transit and state energy agencies, airports, ports. The Energy Transition Solutions team is 100% client-focused on:

  • Working across TRC to bring cross- company electrification, energy planning and technology deployment expertise to our clients.
  • Working directly with clients’ planning, sustainability, resiliency and capital programs teams to support energy demand modeling and electrification planning.
  • Integrating building and transportation electrification data sets to develop actionable plans and reports.
  • Working directly with charge management providers and other energy consultants to access EV charging utilization data on behalf of our clients.
  • Developing easy to understand and actionable energy analyses and dashboards to support deployment of transportation electrification assets (EVSE and DERs) and enabling technologies such as charge and load management solutions.

The Data Analyst - Energy will join a team of experienced energy and transportation consulting staff and have the opportunity to continue to learn about the clean energy industry, learn new analytic skills, and participate in the growth of the Advanced Energy practice. No project is the same, and Energy Analysts get exposure to different types of work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. This position requires the ability to communicate effectively and coordinate with internal technical team members and external customers.

Responsibilities

The overall responsibilities of Data Analysts - Energy are to:

  • Perform a variety of energy-related analytic tasks and analyses under the direction of senior team members.
  • Analyze, interpret and integrate data from a variety of sources including EV charging forecasts, existing EV and electric equipment charging utilization, and building and transportation energy demand forecasts.
  • Partner with internal data management experts to ensure client data sets and deliverables are leveraging best practices for data integrity, data automation and data visualization.
  • Help translate results of analysis into actionable recommendations for clients, with oversight.
  • Perform assigned work as instructed, within budget allocated and scheduled needs for deliverables of project.

Manage time across multiple projects, proactively seeking support when needed to understand/troubleshoot tasks or balance competing priorities

Qualifications

  • Degree in Technical Field, Data Science, Math or equivalent field
  • 3-5 years' professional experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Capable of maintaining a high energy level to handle a dynamic, fast-paced workload
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
  • Enthusiasm for learning new skills and can-do attitude

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications are not required for an applicant to be considered a candidate for the position.

  • Proficiency with the following software: Python (or other database programming languages), PowerBI, Tableau (or similar data visualization software), Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, communication and organizational skills.
  • Understanding of the mechanics of the energy market, transportation electrification and EV charging to analyze complex data.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
