Energy Management System Expert for Battery Energy Storage

They are currently seeking a Energy Management System Expert for Battery Energy Storage (BESS) to join their team. This role involves developing and implementing innovative battery storage applications and solutions, ensuring their effective integration into the market. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, with expertise in instrumentation, control systems, and energy storage technologies. Key responsibilities for this role will include (but are not limited to):

• Oversee and drive engineering control and processes for control software systems of Utility Battery Energy Storage Systems.
• Implement and modify instrumentation and control logics.
• Perform system-wide functionality tests and troubleshooting.
• Identify and outline customer requirements regarding instrumentation and controls.
• Design and create high-level and detailed system design drawings and layouts for controls.
• Specify appropriate system components and create detailed bills-of-material for material and labor cost estimates.
• Determine the most effective solutions to meet customer requirements.
• Support projects from the design phase through the project start-up phase.
• Assist the technical sales team with prospective customers and clients.
• Manage customer expectations and coordinate project-specific concepts with internal and external engineering partners.
• Elaborate and refine "lessons learned" to enhance product development experience.

Required and desired skillsets, experience, and qualifications for this role:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Expert experience in instrumentation, automation, control, and digital systems for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, with opportunities for more senior roles for those with greater experience.
• Experience with PLC ladder logic or similar systems is an advantage.
• A focused and process-oriented approach with the ability to think creatively.
• Significant practical work experience, including internships, working student activities, or employment.
• Long-term experience in battery technology for storage applications, battery systems, modules and subcomponents, or power conversion systems (PCS) with a focus on instrumentation and controls.
• In-depth technical understanding, particularly in battery storage technologies or renewable energies.
• Ability to work independently, with moderate travel activity required.
• Fluent in English (mandatory); proficiency in German is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and proactive attitude.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
