About The Role


As a CBRE Energy Manager, you will lead the implementation of energy initiatives for a portfolio of multiple properties.

What You’ll Do


Develop portfolio-wide energy management strategy that aligns with client’s short term energy cost savings goals and long-term emissions-reduction goals to meet their sustainability commitments.

Lead identification and prioritization of energy capital projects, operational efficiency initiatives, and physical plant upgrades, resulting in reduced energy consumption (may include HVAC, lighting, building envelope, demand response and BMS controls, renewable energy, employee engagement, and evaluating new technologies and services).

Engage team and conduct audits to identify and develop energy efficiency projects. Formalize scope, acquire vendor quotes, evaluate financial viability, perform project savings analysis, and drive project budgeting approvals.

Report clear and concise metrics on various energy and sustainability activities (cost and energy savings, CO2, water, waste etc.), and achievements monthly or as requested by client.

Provide energy and sustainability related inputs across all real estate – examples include green leasing, sustainable sourcing, operational efficiency, sustainability construction standards etc.

Communicate plans and progress to all levels of staff through presentations and meetings.

Initiate water efficiency and waste management programs and develop plans to roll out to portfolio.

Utility Cost Management


  • Supervise management of utilities budgets
  • Provide forecasts of utility expenses throughout the portfolio
  • Find opportunities for utility supply cost savings such as demand response programs, rate and tariff optimization, rebates etc.
  • Coordinate energy and renewable energy purchasing activities as needed

Data Analytics &Compliance


  • Supervise any existing and proposed state, federal and Joint Commission Environmental Sustainability compliance requirements.
  • Support client’s emissions (scopes 1 and 2) and water reporting.
  • Manage energy benchmarking in Energy Star and other healthcare benchmarks.
  • Develop and present monthly energy reports on energy and water use and spending trends.
  • Understand and calculate building energy consumption profiles savings from projects.

What You’ll Need


4+ years of Schneider Resource Advisor; and Energy Star required and LEED certification very helpful.

Bachelor's degree and minimum of five years of related experience or training.

Detailed knowledge of energy consuming building systems and industry standards for measurement & verification of energy savings.

In-depth knowledge of sustainability/energy principles and concepts.

Extensive knowledge of financial terms and calculate intermediate figures. Conducts sophisticated financial analysis.

Comprehend, analyze, and interpret business documents, write reports, manuals, speeches and articles. Requires progressive analytical and quantitative skills.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Energy Manager position is $140,000 annually [or $67.31 per hour] and the maximum salary for the Energy Manager position is $160,000 annually [or $76.92 per hour]. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, q ualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program.
