Engineering Director

The Director of Engineering and Tech. Operations reports into the Account Executive. In consultation with senior account leadership, this position is responsible for defining and implementing engineering and technical operations process improvements in the facilities management, quality, compliance, project space for manufacturing and technical clients.

The position will capture the manufacturing process and compliance needs and align them to best facilities management practice by documenting and implementing processes and procedures into efficient and repeatable methods to deliver best in class operational outcomes in the food and beverage space,

The director or engineering and technical operations will perform sites process audits, conduct investigations, solicit observations from operators, and be successful by applying knowledge of production design, fabrication, assembly, process, tooling, and materials into the facilities management environment.

The role will utilize process improvement methodologies to identify solutions and project management skills to drive implementation. The individual should have a passion and expectation for hands-on tasks, interacting with diverse internal and external groups to ensure plans are created and implemented.

Emphasis should be on improving the overall client experience, positive and timely response to concerns or needs of the client.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide operational leadership setting the accounts technical direction through matrix management of project team and operations, including Facility Managers, Operations Managers and Engineering responsible for operations and maintenance programs for all manufacturing, Critical Environments, building real estate and diverse facility types within site/portfolio.
  • Must lead by example and set craft labor “safety first” work environment and culture with a positive out look.
  • Comply with all JLL policies, including but not limited to ethics and business practices
  • Identify and manage overall project dependencies and ensure project deliverables stay on-time, on-target and on-budget.
  • Solid problem-solving skills and ability to focus both strategically and tactically to achieve firm and client transition and business goals
  • Performing strong operational and programmatic day to day operational quality control
  • Responsible for prompt response to client requests to include as minimum appropriate root cause analysis (RCA), and follow on corrective action plans (CAPAs) are executed and communicated in a timely manner.
  • Structure and lead project teams to ensure maximum performance.
  • Conduct MSA review with Account and TMO Teams.
  • Clarify and communicate project objectives including detail understanding of client deliverables and success criteria with positivity and professionalism.
  • Work collaboratively with all participants including client, outside legal counsel, contractors/vendors/consultants, landlord representatives and all JLL resources.
  • Provide and promote proactive and creative leadership to serve and advance the goals of the client
  • Coordinate the strategic approach for each project initiative
  • Provide data as needed for preparation of all necessary reporting and analyses. Will also be responsible for review and presentations to client.
  • Take ownership of the financial authorization process (task orders, change orders, etc.) for all projects and initiatives as applicable.
  • Ensure that project budgets and schedules, prepared by direct reports, are coherent, complete and maintained throughout the life of each project initiative.
  • Responsible for working with the site Facility Managers and the account HSE, Quality and Sourcing directors on the selection and monitoring of contractors for special services.
  • Set direction and work with client to ensure compliant and efficient operational processes as implement by the account’s Operations Teams performing work within offices, laboratories, manufacturing plants. Review operational procedures at locations to assure optimal energy efficiency is achieved.
  • Responsible for adherence to Environmental Health and Safety standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a strong manager of managers as role will oversee all areas of operations and maintenance and will work closely with Engineering/Operations, the TMO and Project Team.
  • Must have minimum of 10 years projects or maintenance and operations experience
  • Experienced in oversight/management of bio pharm R&D laboratory, cGMP manufacturing environments and capital project management is highly desirable
  • Have deep understanding of BMS/ FMS control logic and control process.
