Position: Our client is seeking to fill two (2) full-time Engineering Technician 3 positions. These senior inspector roles will primarily support County Project Managers in the design, development, and construction management of capital improvement projects on the County’s six Willamette River bridges (Sellwood, Hawthorne, Morrison, Burnside, Broadway, and Sauvie Island).

These senior inspector roles will primarily support County Project Managers in the design, development, and construction management of capital improvement projects on the County’s six Willamette River bridges (Sellwood, Hawthorne, Morrison, Burnside, Broadway, and Sauvie Island).
Responsibilities
- Inspection and Quality Control: Perform inspections of bridge and roadway capital project construction, including reinforced concrete and structural steel installation, shop fabrication, painting, surveying, grading, paving, and drainage.
- Project Management: Plan and manage smaller capital projects or portions of larger projects, ensuring they are completed efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
- Team Leadership: Lead other project inspectors, assign work, and manage schedules to ensure adequate inspection coverage.
- Compliance and Documentation: Ensure projects comply with federal funding requirements, maintaining extensive attention to detail and documentation.
- Coordination and Communication: Facilitate communication between County staff, consultant engineers, and construction contractors; coordinate day-to-day inspections and project safety and quality assurance functions.
- Technical Expertise: Serve as subject matter experts on standards, practices, laws, and regulations; assist in developing standards and procedures.
- Mentorship: Lead, mentor, and coach junior staff.
- Reporting: Keep inspection records, prepare reports, and lead the project documentation and closeout process.
- Experience: Five (5) to eight (8) years of increasingly responsible experience in public works, bridge, and roadway inspection.
- Skills: Strong supervisory and coordination experience, exceptional communication, analytical, and organizational skills. Hands-on experience with federal project inspections and documentation requirements is highly valued.
- Certifications: Ideally, certified by the Oregon Department of Transportation in Bridge Inspection and General Inspection.
- Attributes: Compliance-focused, adept in conflict management, capable of excelling in both independent and team environments.
- Five (5) to eight (8) years of experience in public works, bridge, and roadway inspection.
- Valid driver’s license.
