At Hoffmann Brothers, safety is paramount. We are seeking a dynamic leader to spearhead the development and implementation of robust health and safety initiatives across our organization, with a focus on cultivating a culture of safety excellence. This role will be instrumental in leading safety efforts for our newly acquired roofing business, Ferguson Roofing, and will play a pivotal role in evaluating and instilling safety culture in any future acquisitions.


Environmental Health & Safety Director


The EH&S Director will be responsible for overseeing safety across multiple sites and states, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while fostering a culture of safety as a core value. This individual will serve as a champion for safety, both in day-to-day operations and in long-term strategic planning, inspiring and leading change throughout the organization.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety Culture Champion: Lead efforts to build and maintain a culture of safety excellence, actively engaging with employees at all levels to promote safety awareness and accountability.
  • Multi-Site Safety Oversight: Develop and implement organizational safety programs spanning multiple locations and states, ensuring consistency and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Safety Committee Leadership: Chair monthly safety committee meetings, providing updates, training, and performance metrics to senior leadership, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Field Safety Enhancement: Enhance field safety practices through assessment, coaching, education, and motivation, aiming to eliminate work-related injuries, illnesses, and property damage.
  • Training and Education: Develop and deliver comprehensive safety training programs for managers and employees, including certifications such as OSHA 10, OSHA 30, CPR/First Aid, and defensive driving.
  • Fleet Safety Administration: Oversee fleet safety policies and investigations, mitigating risks associated with company vehicles and equipment.
  • Case Management: Actively manage safety incidents and cases, providing timely resolution and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence, fostering a proactive approach to safety management.
  • Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment: Conduct assessments and provide recommendations to improve safety conditions and practices across facilities, equipment, and processes.
  • EH&S Monitoring and Reporting: Implement systems for monitoring, measuring, and reporting EH&S performance metrics, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Integration of Safety in Acquisitions: Collaborate with leadership teams to evaluate and implement safety culture in newly acquired businesses, ensuring alignment with Hoffmann Brothers' safety standards.
  • Change Agent for Safety: Serve as a catalyst for safety innovation and change management, ensuring that safety remains a central focus in the workplace culture.
  • Policy Development and Enforcement: Establish and enforce safety policies and procedures in accordance with OSHA regulations, while implementing a disciplined approach to safety compliance.
  • Environmental Compliance: Manage EH&S activities related to transportation, storage, and disposal of waste and recycling materials.

Education, Qualifications, and Experience:

  • Proven track record of driving EHS performance and cultural transformation, with experience in safety, sustainability, and environmental standards.
  • 7+ years of progressive safety leadership experience, preferably in construction or manufacturing industries.
  • Professional certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CHP), CHST or related certification.
  • Proficiency in incident investigation techniques and comprehensive knowledge of OSHA, DOT, DOL, and other regulatory standards.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing and managing safety programs, with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Passion for safety excellence and adeptness in navigating the complexities of managing multi-site safety initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to foster consensus and collaboration across all levels of the organization.
  • Availability to be on call for emergencies, showcasing a commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of Hoffmann Brothers' employees.
