This position plays a pivotal role within the technical team by offering expertise in technical input and legislative compliance related to health and safety. It holds a key responsibility in the development and upkeep of on-site health and safety systems and standards. Additionally, this role is instrumental in steering the Hoshin Kanri technical strategy and actively contributes to achieving legal compliance and cost reduction/cost avoidance goals for the site.
Responsible for the continuous development and management of the Health and Safety Management System, as well as driving enhancements to the existing systems in Landover, MD to ensure compliance
Assist management team during accident or injury investigations and root cause analysis
Identify safety risks present on the floor to be fixed or addressed
Conduct internal audits & risk assessments on all aspects of the Health and Safety Management Systems e.g. Task, DSE, COSHH
Act as an on-site first responder who can provide basic first aid to injured persons
Ensure visibility of H&S initiatives at the site level (Behavior Safety, Safe Work Permit process, Safety Observations, Near Miss, etc) to all levels of operations management and recommend improvements in effectiveness. The engagement and support of the onsite Safety Action Groups.
Actively participate in health and safety meetings for Tata Consumer Products/Eight O' Clock Coffee at a local level.
Maintain monthly reports and track key performance indicators for Landover site
Manage H&S related training requirements and ensure designated staff remain current on their safety certification
Remain abreast of all legislation and other requirements as it relates to health and safety

Requirements
Bachelor's Degree highly preferred
3+ years experience in a health and safety role in a manufacturing environment.
OSHA knowledge and experience in an manufacturing environment.
IOSH Managing Safely
NEBOSH General Certificate (or working towards).
Detailed knowledge of health and safety management systems. Ideally ISO45001
Knowledge of OSHA and NFPA standards
Risk assessment training for health and safety disciplines
Audit training for health and safety disciplines
Proficient in MS Office(Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
Excellent communication skills
Highly organized and strong attention to detail.
Knowledge of the tools and techniques required to apply a continuous improvement approach
