Executive Director (226 Days)

  • Direct and manage the district's fine arts, enrichment, and electives program, including all curriculum and professional development, supervising personnel charged with planning and implementing the program, and coordinating the fine arts, enrichment, and electives programs with all other departments in interdisciplinary interactions.
  • Direct the development, implementation and coordination of policies and programs covering music programs for instrumental, choral, and general music, visual arts, theatre arts, and dance, physical education, health, world languages, and computer science that will provide a balanced and enriching program throughout the district.
  • Direct the repair and refurbishing of the district’s musical instruments.
  • Supervise and direct staff responsible for planning, developing, and implementing fine arts, enrichment, and electives curricula throughout the district.
  • Provide leadership in the development of coherent and aligned fine arts, enrichment, and electives curricula to ensure that all students are provided with a quality education.
  • Develop and maintain the department budget 5%
  • Develop and implement, with the approval of the chief academic officer, deputy chief, and the collaboration of other executive directors, the type of organization needed to accomplish the district’s objectives and programs related to fine arts, enrichment, and electives.
  • Direct the establishment of an ongoing operation of the Fine Arts and Electives and Enrichment Department to ensure long term programs meet the needs of the schools and the community.
  • Communicate, respond to, and resolve issues with internal and external stakeholders and entities regarding Electives and Enrichment programs.
  • Address any compliance issues from the state and court orders.
  • Direct the development of programs, standards of performance, and evaluation of performance using rubrics and other designated protocols.
  • Direct the maintenance of such reports and reports for the chief academic officer, deputy chief and other executive staff to keep them informed of fine arts, enrichment, and electives programmatic progress and future plans.
  • Prepare policies and other items requiring Board approval 5%
  • Keep abreast of the technical, legislative, and professional developments that after assigned responsibilities and facilitate daily fine arts, enrichment, and electives program operations.
  • Supervise the work activities of the staff including, interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems as directed.
  • Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.
  • Required Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Fine Arts, Health & Wellness or related fields; Required Master’s Degree from an accredited university in Education related field.
  • Required Valid Texas Teacher Certificate with required endorsements for subject and subject level assigned in Fine Arts, Health & Wellness or related fields.
  • Required Texas standard Principal Certificate or Mid-Management Certificate.
  • 10+ years of direct experience
  • Demonstrated collaboration skills.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely in written and oral format.
  • Ability to coordinate and monitor departmental operations.
  • Organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills to work with a variety of people.
  • Knowledge of current best practices in the fine arts areas of music, visual arts, theatre and dance.
  • Ability to work effectively with all district personnel, consultants, and/or vendors
