Experienced Manufacturing Assembly Technician

Description

In this role, you will accurately and efficiently assemble and test a variety of moderately complex products to meet customer quality and on-time delivery schedules. Your responsibilities will include performing lock wiring, first stage subassembly, and final detailing functions on products that contain mechanical components, single hydraulic systems, and multiple part numbers. You will actively contribute to lean initiatives aimed at increasing productivity and reducing costs, all while receiving general supervisory guidance.

Essential Functions

  • Perform moderately complex assembly and test functions utilizing mechanical skills, hand and power tools, mechanical/electronic tools, test equipment, assembly fixtures, and inspection measurement equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Record test results on data forms using moderately complex electrical equipment and flow measurement devices, including X-Y recorders, oscilloscopes, and transducers.
  • Identify malfunctions disclosed by test data and rework as instructed.
  • Interpret blueprints, engineering orders, assembly routes, test specifications, service bulletins, customer requirements, and quality directives.
  • Produce and inspect assemblies that conform to product specifications, assembling, testing, and/or soldering to customer and/or industry standards.
  • Perform touch-up or full surface painting of parts with finishing materials such as paint, lacquer, and glaze, including mixing paint and cleaning parts.
  • Actively participate in lean initiatives by identifying and providing suggestions on areas for improvement.
  • Assist in training less experienced team members as needed.
  • Observe all safety rules and maintain a foreign object damage (FOD) free work area.
  • Ensure all equipment is calibrated in accordance with the calibration schedule.
  • Perform other related responsibilities as required.

Job Requirements

  • Two or more years of industry-related experience in assembly/test in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrate product and process knowledge by applying it to newly learned techniques.
  • Select appropriate procedures, techniques, tools, and equipment effectively.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding blueprints, route sheets, and test specifications.
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations and demonstrate effective verbal, written, and basic computer skills.
  • Possess strong mechanical reasoning and the ability to implement and apply lean initiatives effectively.
  • Exhibit effective interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Interpret reports and use standard business software applications, including employee self-service for accessing online information and specialized automated systems (e.g., PMR, TORS, email).
  • May require soldering certification per customer requirements.
  • Ability to effectively demonstrate team member competencies and participate in goal setting, performance feedback, and self-development activities.
