Position Overview: The Facilities Manager will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance, security, and services of our laboratory facilities to ensure they meet the needs of our organization and its employees. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in facilities management, preferably within a laboratory or industrial setting, with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Requires working on-site in Los Alamos, NM
Key Responsibilities:
· Maintenance and Repairs: Oversee routine maintenance and repairs of laboratory equipment, HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and building infrastructure, including coordinating with external contractors.
· Space Management: Optimize the use of space within the facility, including laboratory and office areas. Plan and execute relocations, refurbishments, and space reconfigurations.
· Vendor Management: Liaise with vendors, contractors, and service providers for equipment maintenance, supplies, and other facility-related services.
· Capital Improvements Management: Manage capital improvement projects, including management of contractors, budget, and project timeline.
Job Requirements
· Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing
· Familiarity with EHS regulations relevant to chemical laboratories
· Excellent organizational and project management skills
· Ability to manage budgets and negotiate contracts
· Residence in or re-location close to Los Alamos, NM
· Be eligible to work in the USA and over the age of 18
Desired Qualifications
· 5+ years experience in facilities management in a laboratory or industrial setting
· Ability to repair and rebuild vacuum systems, small motors/pumps, and/or equipment
· Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related field
· Experience in architectural design of chemical laboratories and manufacturing
· Experience in equipment automation and scale-up of chemical manufacturing
