Job Description

Chronicle Heritage is actively seeking a Project Manager to join our team of experienced staff currently supporting Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) projects. The ideal candidate is an cultural resource professional with experience serving FDOT and other transportation industry clients and who can assist in contract and project management, quality assurance and quality control, reporting, and client communication. The position can be remote but may require infrequent travel for client or project meetings. This is a full-time, salaried position.

Hire Type: Full-time, salaried

Schedule: Monday–Friday, normal business hours with occasional weekend work

Location: Remote, Florida preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly client invoices, ensuring compliance with contract under the direction of Project managers.
  • Collects all backup for invoices when needed.
  • Reviews and reconciles specialty invoices (Caltrans, government funded projects, DOT).
  • Tracks and reports project budget versus actuals.
  • Understands project cost accounting and Work-in Progress.
  • Reads and thoroughly understand contracts and amendments, updates record as assigned.
  • Manages client communications
  • Performs project and level of effort reviews as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in anthropology, archaeology, history, architectural history, historic preservation, public history, heritage conservation, or a closely related field
  • Ability to meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualifications Standards for the applicable discipline
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines pertaining to historical resources
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing cultural resource assessment survey (CRAS) reports and associated documents and technical reports
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience managing cultural resource projects including preparing budgets and proposals, keeping projects within budget and on schedule, and consulting with clients and agencies
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience with the archaeology and/or history of Florida
  • Proficient understanding of state and federal laws and regulations, particularly the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), and Section 4(f) of the U.S. Department of Transportation Act
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project).

Preferred Skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and commitment to achieving team goals
  • Experience supporting Florida Department of Transportation projects and/or clients
  • Experience in the review of project engineering plans
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment

Physical And Mental Requirements And Work Environment

  • Regular fieldwork or on-site inspections are required, which necessitates ability to frequently travel/drive a vehicle (sight, hearing, and manual manipulation of driving mechanisms), cognitive ability to plan travel, use maps or GPS navigation systems.
  • Vision is required to observe environmental phenomena and record and translate observations into text (either keyboard entry on a computer or dictation and audio translation of recording to Standard English scientific text).
  • Mental requirements include ability to organize one’s own work or that of crew members; ability to recognize and observe scientific data and analyze data as well as ability to perform calculations. Must also be able to observe social and professional interactions and respond appropriately.
  • Some work is performed primarily in an indoor environment and requires sustained sitting and use of fingers, hands, and arms to operate a computer and perform keyboard entry of data or document preparation (or equivalent with accommodation). Must also be able to operation standard office equipment (phone, copy machine, FAX machine, etc.)
