The College of Performing Arts at The New School seeks a part-time Festival Assistant to support the Mannes Sounds Festival. The Festival Assistant will support the administration, operations, and production coordination for all concert presentations. The position will report to the Artistic Director of the Mannes Sounds Festival.
In 1999, Pavlina Dokovska, chair of the Piano Department, founded the Mannes Sounds Festival and serves today as its artistic director. The festival presents hundreds of Mannes students each year in more than 20 concerts at iconic venues across New York City. The festival also presents master classes and lectures by distinguished faculty members and guest artists. The Mannes Sounds Festival provides unparalleled opportunities for students at Mannes to perform in a variety of venues and professional settings. The festival is also a key fundraising vehicle for Mannes School of Music.
This is a part-time hourly (on average, 20 hours per week) position with access to the comprehensive benefits package offered to part-time non-union employees at The New School. Working hours will vary based on the Mannes Sounds Festival season calendar, and frequent nights and weekends will be required.
The position begins on July 1, 2024 and ends on June 30, 2025. The position may be renewed after June 30, 2025 pending available funding and continued need.

Responsibilities
- Event Production (75%)
- Support festival season planning and programming, including booking concert venues, securing student and guest artist talent, and managing production budgets.
- Advance all Mannes Sounds productions. This includes but is not limited to creation of show documentation, contact sheets, rehearsals schedules, runs of show, cast and crew calls, rehearsal reports, and stage plots.
- Serve as on-site producer for festival events.
- Lead weekly production meetings.
- Event Promotion (15%)
- Generate festival programs including creating and/or reviewing program copy, and overseeing printing and distribution.
- Assist the event promotions team at CoPA to promote the festival through social media, mailchimp, flyers, posters, etc.
- General Support (10%)
- Provide administrative support to the Artistic Director.
- Prior experience in arts administration or event production
- Ability to leverage University platforms including Splash, 25Live, Tableau, Google Suite, and Workday to complete duties
- Demonstrated commitment to Equity, Inclusion, Social Justice, and the transformative power of the arts and education
