Finance Director - Product Management Division

STQ Partners are retained by our long-standing client who operate in the deep-tech and Robotics domain.

We are helping them appoint a newly created senior post, for a Finance Director to work within their US HQ.

The Finance Director will work closely with the Chief Product Officer and Product Exec, serving as the main liaison between Finance and Product.

This role provides financial support, analysis, and guidance to maximize value creation and operational efficiency. Responsibilities include delivering accurate budgets and forecasts, ensuring alignment with the organization, and offering insights to drive strategic decisions and functional performance.

Responsibilities

Business Partnering

• Serve as the primary Finance Business Partner to the CPO and Product Exec, attending staff meetings, leadership events, and product/strategy reviews.
• Build strong relationships within Finance and beyond to produce consolidated reporting and analysis, integrating inputs from various sources.

Product Reviews and Investment Appraisal

• Attend Product Reviews, providing financial insights, focusing on data-driven ROI assessments.
• Collaborate with CPO, CFO, and SVP Commercial Finance to create qualification criteria for project approvals.
• Develop schedules to evaluate investment opportunities, track progress, and measure performance post-implementation.

Budget/Strategic Planning

• Lead the strategic planning process and deliver submissions on schedule, working with the CPO and Product Exec.
• Prepare budget materials, commentaries, and analyses.

Month-end and Forecast

• Review month-end performance with Finance Reporting, ensuring accurate financial records and providing variance analysis and commentary.
• Conduct forecast reviews, submitting forecasts with variance analyses and highlighting risks and opportunities.

Reporting

• Develop regular reporting materials and KPIs with the CPO/Product Exec to track and communicate Product performance.
• Contribute to the monthly CFO pack and present at regular meetings.
• Create taxonomies to improve analysis and reporting quality, facilitating Product P&Ls and ownership assignment.

Strategic & Other

• Regularly assess the Product cost base with the CPO/Product Exec to identify efficiency opportunities and optimize expenditure.
• Represent Product org requirements for a new ERP system

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with strategic finance expertise: Proven success in fast-growth or technology environments, preferably within a global organization.
• Capex and project deliverables: Experienced in investment appraisal, ROI analysis, and developing templates/models for these processes.
• P&L and management accounting: Extensive experience with month-end processes, forecasting, reporting, and analyzing risks and opportunities.
• Technical proficiency: Expert in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; knowledge of Power BI and strong ERP (preferably SAP) and FP&A consolidation/planning tools.
