This position reports to the Senior Vice President, Chief Operating Officer. The analyst will also have key working relationships with all Investment Managers, Hearthstone’s finance, accounting, and legal staff.
EDUCATION
At minimum, an undergraduate degree in accounting, finance or related discipline.
BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE
A minimum of five years in an accounting, financial analyst, or project management position with superior Excel skills,preferable within a private or public homebuilder environment.
PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS AND SKILLSETS
Essential attributes of the individual filling this position will include (but not be limited to) the following:
Superior Excel skills.
Ability to write reports and memos in a clear, concise manner quickly identifying the salient information of subject matter.
Working knowledge of the homebuilding industry (vernacular, financial metrics, operational objectives, industry norms).
Applicant must have experience with statistical analysis, financial forecasting and homebuilding proformas.
The analyst must have strong communication and listening skills and the ability to understand and retain written and verbal communication from others. Person must be detailed oriented and very organized in his/her approach to executing tasks.
Must be able to work within a consensus driven environment and to relate well with a varied group of company personnel and customers.
Must be a seasoned professional who is able to analyze situations quickly and thoroughly and relay problems to superiors in an efficient well thought out manner.
Must be an independent worker and confident in his/her ability to manage a large volume of information on a consistentbasis.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions and responsibilities of this position will include (but not be limited to) the following:
Provide analytical, reporting, and project underwriting.
Produce monthly reports, which include key metrics, financial results, and variance reporting.
Assist Investment Managers with coordination of third-party consultants and weekly underwriting reports.
Assist in the competitive market analysis of homebuilding projects and submarkets.
Assist Investment Managers with weekly, monthly and quarterly project performance reporting.
Identify opportunities for performance improvement across the organization.
Reconciles transactions by comparing and correcting data.
Recommends actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses; studying proposed changes.
Provide timely, relevant and accurate reporting and analysis of results against historical, budgeted, forecasted and strategic planning forecasts.

Demonstrating that he/she has the intermediate accounting, finance and written skills necessary to provide effective, thoughtful and detailed analysis.
Becoming the key support to the Hearthstone Senior Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and investment managers by contributing analytical work designed to assist in the underwriting and management of homebuilding investments.
Demonstrating that he/she is a problem solver who possesses the ability to manage his/her area of business within thegeneral parameters of the business plan, and who actively and quickly seeks senior management guidance when solutions to issues will require decisions more than his/her approval authority.
Providing a high level of customer service, both to internal and external customers, by maintaining excellent workingrelationships with existing builders, developers, investors and fellow Hearthstone Team Members.
