Major League Baseball is looking for an intelligent, hardworking professional to join our Financial Planning & Analysis team in our New York, NY office. The selected candidate will report to the Director, FP&A and will assist in preparing annual budgets, updating monthly forecasts, and performing various financial analyses. Candidates must possess exceptional analytical skills, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to think outside the box.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with department heads to build bottoms-up annual budgets, monthly forecasts, and long-range plans, with a primary focus on operational expenses
  • Conduct detailed monthly review of budget vs. actual results to ensure optimal targets are met
  • Investigate budget/forecast variances and provide explanations to department head and finance leadership in a clear and concise manner
  • Liaison with various business owners to stay up to date on trends and new business initiatives as well as communicate results
  • Work closely with accounting group during detailed review of results to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Assist Senior Management with special projects and ad hoc analysis

Requirements

  • 1-3 years experience in FP&A, financial modeling, investment banking, etc.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (with a strong emphasis on Excel)
  • Preferably someone with Oracle EPM experience
  • Ability to work with large data sets and experience with various analytics tools such as Looker, FinOut, etc. a plus
  • Creative problem-solver with exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Time management skills - proven ability to oversee multiple projects while prioritizing and managing own time appropriately
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team
  • General accounting knowledge required

Per the NYC pay transparency law, the hiring range for this position is $70,000 to $90,000. The actual offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your work experience, education, skills and any other factors Major League Baseball (MLB) considers relevant to the hiring decision.

As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills and any other factors Major League Baseball (MLB) considers relevant to the hiring decision.
