About the Role:

Vast.ai is seeking a Financial Controller & Compliance Manager to oversee our finances and compliance program, with a particular focus on SOC 2 compliance. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape both the financial strategy and compliance culture of our organization while working directly with the COO.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance Management (60% of role):

• Oversee the company's SOC 2 compliance program, including:
• Developing and maintaining internal frameworks.
• Conducting risk assessments.
• Coordinating with vendors and auditors for continual SOC 2 compliance.
• Develop, implement, and maintain company-wide compliance policies and procedures.
• Manage and respond to vendor compliance requests and questionnaires.
• Conduct regular compliance training for employees.
• Stay abreast of regulatory changes affecting the company and industry.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory inquiries and audits.
  

Financial Management (40% of role):

• Oversee all aspects of financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis.
• Manage the accounting team and processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial statements.
• Develop and maintain financial controls and procedures.
• Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Provide strategic financial advice to senior management.
• Cryptocurrency accounting, including:
• Tracking and reporting on crypto sales gateways (Coinbase Commerce, Crypto.com Merchant).
• Staying current with evolving crypto accounting standards and best practices.
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA or Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting roles.
• At least 3 years of experience in IT compliance, with a focus on SOC 2 or ISO 27001.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Outstanding communication and leadership abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
