First Review Toxicology Analyst

Job Summary:

The First Review Toxicology Analyst will analyze samples according to established procedures in a clinical laboratory setting. This role will perform analysis on different toxicology methods up until the point of approval. This role will join our high performing toxicology data review team, and the ideal candidate will have the desire to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Follow and adhere to all Corporate Standard Operating Procedures and Corporate Compliance Program.
  • Follow all safety, HIPAA, regulatory requirements
  • Able to perform all testing per Standard Operating Procedures
  • Use problem solving skills to improve the laboratory processes
  • Operate, validate, maintain, and troubleshoot instruments utilizing the clinical testing, including daily identification of instruments requiring maintenance
  • Perform validations and appropriate validation documentation
  • Assure patient results are performed and reported accurately and timely
  • Reviews data and develops patient reports
  • Responsible for data analysis of all methods that analyst is deemed competent in
  • Perform all workflow analysis that takes place after the toxicology specimen have finished running on screening and confirmation instrumentation
  • Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications
  • Inspection/Audit: the laboratory should be prepared and operated on a day-to-day basis to result in no deficiencies on any scheduled, random, or unannounced inspection from any accrediting agency including but not limited to CLIA, CAP, OSHA, Department of Health, State, etc.
  • Additional duties can be assigned by management


Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Experienced in laboratory procedures
  • Knowledge of laboratory protocols
  • Detail oriented and ability to multi-task
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently or in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office applications and email


Education and Experience for First Review Toxicology Analyst:

  • Required to have completed 60 semester hours of academic credit including biology and chemistry, or an associate degree is required
    • OR High School Diploma with 1 year of a technical training program
    • OR High School Diploma with 2 years of full-time CLIA laboratory experience
  • Equivalent to a Laboratory Technician I
  • Preferred to have completed 60 semester hours of academic credit including biology and chemistry, or an associate degree is required and 1 year of CLIA laboratory experience
    • OR High School Diploma with 1 year of a technical training program and 1 year of CLIA laboratory experience
    • OR High School Diploma with 3 years of full-time CLIA laboratory experience
    • OR Bachelor’s Degree in either chemical, physical, or biological sciences with no experience
  • Equivalent to a Laboratory Technician II
  • Proficient in molecular, chemistry, and/or serology-based techniques are preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Some safety risks when doing analysis
  • Exposure to Disease or Infections on a daily basis.
  • Exposure to some adverse and undesirable environmental conditions.
  • Work requires prolonged standing and intense visual concentration when testing and analysis.
  • Will range from sitting for extended periods of time to standing/moving throughout the area all day
  • Must be able to lift-up to 50 pounds.
