Responsibilities

As the Quality and Food Safety Manager, you will lead the Hourly Sanitation Team and manage Food Safety Systems at our Hawaii site, impacting site-wide processes.


This role involves:

  • Leadership Across Shifts: Lead sanitation and food safety initiatives across all three shifts, primarily on the 1st shift. Your schedule may vary based on business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Team Development: Guide a diverse team of hourly associates, focusing on their development, quality systems performance, cost management, service, and safety.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain and update the site Food Safety plan, ensure compliance with all food safety requirements, and lead internal, second, and third-party audits.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Communicate effectively across departments to solve operational issues and motivate the team to achieve regulatory and plan goals.
  • Continuous Improvement: Organize and facilitate team meetings to drive continuous improvement, solve problems on the floor, and achieve sanitation, quality, and food safety-related key performance metrics (KPMs).
  • Training and Engagement: Develop and deliver training programs, ensure the training matrix is up to date, and improve team communication and engagement.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Internal Audit Program and Food Safety Programs.
  • Train leaders and front-line staff on food safety plans and processes.
  • Develop and administer policies, practices, and projects.
  • Present and conduct formal training programs.
  • Think creatively and challenge the team to innovate.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Knowledge of the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and experience with GFSI schematics (FSSC 22000, BRC, GFS, GRMS, etc.) preferred.
  • Skills: Demonstrated leadership, project management, coaching, facilitation, presentation, and team-building skills. Proficiency in quality regulatory procedures and GMP/AIB requirements in a manufacturing setting. Understanding of sanitation, quality, OSHA, and food safety requirements.
  • Attributes: Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work in an unstructured environment, make trade-off decisions quickly, and lead a team-based decision-making approach.


Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: Expected range between $74,800 - $125,250, based on experience and location.
  • Bonus: Performance-based bonus with a target payout of 10% of annual salary.
  • Paid Time Off: Includes parental leave, vacation, sick leave, and bereavement.
