Food Service Business Development Project Manager

Expected Pay Range: $90,000 - $110,000/year

Summary And Scope

The Food Service Project Manager is responsible for the support and development of project/budget scheduling and planning, including recommendations for overall program objectives, operating schedules, and resource requirements. The Project Manager will assist in researching and developing new lines of business within the food service industry across government and private sectors and contract and retail-based opportunities This role will also support initiatives to create efficiencies in potential upcoming and ongoing projects and will provide expert instruction in the expansion of company resources and skill sets in Food Service Operations.

Essential Functions

  • Experience in the support and development of project/budget scheduling and planning, including recommendations for program objectives, operating schedules, and resource requirements.
  • Prepare documentation in support of project milestone decisions and reviews.
  • Responsible for the cost account management of all technical, cost, and schedule aspects of assigned project(s).
  • Coordinate the preparation or support of written proposals, work statements and specifications, as well as project budgets, and financial terms of contracts.
  • Development and execution of a project plan to meet contractual commitments.
  • Establish and flow-down customer requirements to vendors and internal departments to ensure contract compliance.
  • Responsible for Earned Value (cost, schedule, and technical performance) calculations; meeting customer established milestones; and monitoring adherence to Prime Contractor’s master schedule.
  • Utilize Risk Management to effectively identify project problems and develop solutions, such as resource allocation or changes in contractual direction.
  • Manage relationships with Prime Contractor, other Subcontractors, as well as contracted vendors to ensure responsiveness to customer requirements and execution at acceptable risk within negotiated price and schedule.
  • Lead the negotiation of contract and ensuing changes as required with oversight from Sr. Director of FS.
  • Coordinate the preparation of change proposals, business plans, proposal work statements, operating budgets, and financial terms/conditions of contract.
  • Represent Food Service to the customer on specific project activities, assist in project review sessions with customer and internal stakeholders to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance as directed by the Sr. Director of Food Service.
  • Direct the work of employees assigned to the program in technical, construction, production, and administrative areas.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Service Management, Business, Finance, or related field required.
  • 5 years’ experience working for a U.S. government contractor and/or in large-scale Commercial Food Service Contracting including:
    • Ability to develop and maintain detailed schedules, ensure adherence to quality standards, and maintain policy and procedures.
    • Exceptional time management.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office
    • Experience with POS systems
    • Experience with multi-location operations
    • Aptitude in analytical, decision-making, problem solving and critical thinking.
    • Ability to effectively interface with C-suite leadership.
  • 5+ years of experience as an advanced responsibility manager, or similar relevant experience required.
  • 10 years’ experience in the food service industry is desired
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Ability to twist, turn, bend, lift, kneel, climb and stand. Lifting of up to 25 lbs. may occur. Employee will be required to travel (at organization expense) in automobile and/or aircraft.

Expected Hours of Work

The ability to work flexible hours including nights, holidays, and weekends will be required based on contract needs. It is expected for this position to attend regular meetings during typical work hours in Eastern Standard Time as well as meetings as needed for assigned projects in other time zones.

Work Environment

This job operates in professional office and facility environment, 24/7/365, inside and outside, and in all weather conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, smart phones, tablets, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and other presentation materials. There is an expectation of clear communication in English both written and orally.

Travel

Travel with this position is extensive. Travel is dependent on contract load. The ability to travel to job sites and be away for extended periods of time based on contract needs is required. Short notice travel is required with 24-48 hours’ notice.

Work Authorization

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must be able to travel within the Continental United States (CONUS)
  • Must pass a drug test, motor vehicle record check, and a background check upon accepting a conditional offer of employment.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license. Have/maintain a clean driving record.
