Compensation & Contract: $35/hour, 25 hours per week from August to October (with the possibility of continuing)
Betches Media is looking for a diverse, creative, and driven individual to join our Betches News team as a Social Producer, Instagram. In this role, you’ll assist the Senior Content Manager of News in social content creation, ideating and executing videos, static posts, and tweets that cover various political and news-related topics with a nonpartisan approach.
The ideal candidate should have a deep passion for political topics, including reproductive healthcare, and a strong understanding of newsroom standards, including rigorous fact-checking, grammar, and sensitivities around political coverage. We’re looking for someone who not only has experience in political journalism or content creation but also understands and embodies the Betches voice and tone.
Role & Responsibilities:
Brainstorm and create engaging content for the Betches News Instagram account, including IG Reels, static posts, and Instagram Stories that cover news and politics with a nonpartisan lens
Participate in brainstorm meetings to plan content and assist in live coverage of timely political events
Help manage and execute the daily content calendar, ensuring a consistent and strategic posting schedule
Collaborate with the Senior Content Manager to produce creative and informative videos and posts that resonate with our audience and align with Betches’ voice
Take on assignments as directed, ensuring all content aligns with our brand standards and editorial guidelines
Work closely with the Senior Content Manager and other team members to incorporate feedback and make edits to content as needed, maintaining high quality and accuracy
Stay up to date with the latest political trends, news cycles, and social media developments to create timely, relevant content
Assist in analyzing social media metrics and adjusting strategies to optimize engagement and reach
Requirements:
1-2 years of experience in political journalism, content creation, or social media management, particularly in a newsroom setting
Comprehensive fact-checking skills and ability to discern accurate information from misinformation
Strong proficiency in Instagram, including experience with IG Reels, static posts, and Instagram Stories
Experience in video editing and content creation using tools like Adobe Premiere, InShot, or CapCut
A deep understanding of and passion for political topics, including reproductive healthcare
Excellent grammar skills, with sensitivity to the complexities of political reporting
Familiarity with the Betches voice and tone, and an ability to adapt content to match it
Comfortable brainstorming and executing creative content ideas, both independently and collaboratively
Willingness to take on assignments and work on edits based on feedback to ensure content quality and brand alignment
