The Colorado Rocky Mountain School (CRMS) is a college-preparatory independent high school located thirty miles northwest of Aspen in the mountains of western Colorado. CRMS’s average enrollment is 175 students in grades 9-12 from various countries. Key to the underpinnings of our progressive and experiential program is close faculty-student relationships and a skill-based academic curriculum balanced with outdoor activities that challenge young people to develop skills, judgment, responsibility, as well as a service ethic. Also significant are tasks related to daily life and the well being of the community. Our balanced curriculum of rigorous college-preparatory courses, wilderness education, and service learning, all in a residential setting, allows students to cultivate academic excellence, critical thinking, and community-mindedness.

The Front Desk Project Manager duties consist of the following main functions:

  • Perform assignments and various projects for the Leadership Team at the direction of the Head of School
  • Meets weekly with the head of school to review progress on projects and priorities.
  • Welcome and sign-in visitors, answer and direct all phone calls from the school’s main number.
  • Maintain student attendance database and tracking of students on restriction. (Works closely and reports to Dean of Students for attendance and restriction issues).
  • Compile weekend dorm checklist, final restriction list & weekend night study list.
  • Oversee student household jobs of administrative common areas (kitchen, bathroom, main entrance, and copy room).

Essential Duties - Cyclical/Annual

  • Accreditation: Main point person for accreditation cycles, includes tracking and implementation of major recommendations.
  • Calendar: serve as point person for all calendars, events, and ensure recognition of notable dates and holidays.
  • HR Support (in coordination with Human Resources): Posting of job positions, scheduling remote and on campus interviews, assist with the onboarding of new employees.
  • Student Travel: Coordinate and assist with student campus arrivals and departures.
  • Primary contact and host for approved campus use by outside groups.

Essential Duties - Weekly

  • Welcome and sign-in visitors, maintaining an atmosphere of warmth, competency, and order.
  • Weekly email sent out to students with missed classes the previous week.
  • Weekly email to students and advisors placed on restriction, including DC letters to students, advisors, and Dean of Students.
  • Meet with students to discuss attendance issues.
  • Entering of day student absences and correction of all student absences upon notification of errors from teachers.
  • Enter and maintain updated student contact information on school’s database system.
  • Order and stock Welcome Center office supplies with budget support from the Business Office.
  • Maintain Welcome Center, kitchen, bathroom, copy room, and recycling areas with support from Housekeeping staff.
  • Maintain office equipment including, phone system, copier equipment, fax machine with support from Technology Department. Schedule shredding pickup.
  • Prepare all Fed Ex shipping labels.

Other Duties

  • Prepare internal mailboxes for students and faculty
  • Pass out OTC meds as delegated by the Director of Health Services.
  • Hand out and track issuance and return of student dorm room keys
  • Manage and maintain teaching/administrative supplies and materials located in the Welcome Center.
  • Other projects and reports as requested from time to time, including support during trustee meetings and gatherings.

Required Experience

  • Two (2) years office/clerical experience desired.
  • Proficiency with Windows operating system, Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel), and email communication.
  • Employment conditional on satisfactory completion of background check including criminal and motor vehicle.
  • Strong verbal and writing skills in the English language required. Proficiency in more than one language preferred.

Other Requirements: Ability to deal with the public is critical. Must be personable, a self-starter, willing to learn and well-organized individual.

Safety Hazards of the Job: General office working conditions including sitting for extended periods and occasional lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

Compensation: The position is full-time and non-exempt. Salary range is $23-$26 per hour, plus benefits.
