General Superintendent

The Garrett Companies is seeking to hire a Full-Time General Superintendent to work out of the Arizona Market. As the Regional Superintendent, you will be primarily responsible for the successful execution of site specific related activities required for successful project completion on a regional scale. In this position, your primary tasks include a range of duties including scheduling, forecasting, budgeting, scope review and

management, inventory management, mentoring, and team encouragement.

Responsibilities

  • In this role the General Superintendent will perform a range of tasks including site walks, documentation review, subcontractor communications and negotiations, observation of daily activities, and will have a working knowledge of all active subcontractors, visitors, and material deliveries. All related office and reporting duties required for success and organization are expected.
  • Supervise all construction related activities related to a regional market.
  • Assist and communicate with Site and Project Management Teams to help the overall success of projects within a regional market.
  • Direct field personnel to achieve completion of projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Ensure quality workmanship that conforms to the plans and specifications.
  • Review and audit project schedules and work with Site Teams through final completion.
  • Identify potential issues and solve problems or provide realistic solutions for issue or problems to Site and Project Management Teams in order to maintain construction schedules and budgets.
  • Periodically inspect contracted work to ensure compliance with contract agreements and all applicable local jurisdictions.
  • Act as resource for Site Teams in regard to all required municipal inspections as it pertains the local municipality.
  • Act as resource for Site Teams in regard to all required utility companies as they relate to this project.
  • Review site testing and inspection reports as agreed to with Owners.
  • Work with Site Teams, Project Engineers and Project Managers to ensure pertinent materials have been reserved, delivered, and inventoried.
  • Maintain positive relationships with all Garrett Companies Team, the entire design team, contractors, suppliers, subcontractors and all applicable municipal representatives.
  • Promote job site safety, encourage safe work practices and rectify any job site hazards immediately.
  • Demonstrate commitment to Injury-Free Environment through own actions and mentoring others.
  • Review Superintendent’s Daily Reports to understand and adapt to weather and field conditions, trade and subcontractor manpower, progress and conditions impacting the project, as well as Accident Reports, Quality Reports, and other task related reports.
  • Attend subcontractor meetings.
  • Review two-week progress reports (previous two weeks and next two weeks).
  • Attend Monthly Progress meetings with Project Management Team and all applicable subcontractors.
  • Act as a training and education resource to the entire field personnel as needed to ensure a successful project.
  • Audit and encourage organized job sites and site construction offices.
  • Foster a positive work environment and provide for the professional growth and development of employees.
  • Be a champion for the projects and bolster confidence of Site Teams.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.


Additional Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Director of Construction
  • Works closely with Project Engineers and Project Managers for each active site.
  • This team is in constant contact and is working to actively manage projects until completion.
  • All other duties as assigned by The Garrett Companies.


Requirements

  • Previous experience managing multiple multi-family construction projects.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Relentless problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to anticipate.

Travel Requirements

  • This position is a field position that travels to active project sites and markets within a specified region.
