Job Title: Geologist
Location: Johns Creek, GA
Job Description:
In this role as a Geologist, you will be responsible for mine geology, exploration geology, deposit structural geology, ore geology, mine operations support, resource modeling, and resource/reserve modeling and preparation and reporting—part of the North America Mining & Resource Planning Team.
- Initiate, conduct, and report mine geology mapping and interpretation projects regularly to support resource modeling, ore control, and reconciliation.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills relative to being the regional expert on the minerals and geology within the division.
- Plan, manage and report drill programs to support mining, mine planning and exploration objectives.
- Develop and demonstrate expertise and knowledge required as CP for Resource and/or Reserve reporting.
- Develop, update and maintain resource models for each of the Resource locations.
- Assist locations in the evaluation and development of ore grade control methods to support quality requirements and balance planned ore supply.
- Maintain reconciliation program to document recovery factors in support of resource and reserve reporting, and verification of geologic models.
- Support evaluation of mineral properties, acquisitions, and mine development options.
- Support permitting, environmental and reclamation activities.
- Manage claim and lease requirements as assigned.
- Other related duties as assigned by management
Requirements:
- BS degree - preferably in geology, mining engineering, or geological engineering
- Minimum of 5 years supporting a mining operation
- Experience working with industrial minerals is a plus
- CP certification is a plus
- Operations experience a plus
- Able to travel in the US & Mexico (25%). Increase travel during drilling campaigns
Environment:
- Field work required, ability to work in a hot environment or underground in a cool dark environment
- Able to work in an office environment
- Able to lift 50 lbs and carry a drill-core box
