Job Description Summary
As the Global Director of Environmental Health and Safety you would be responsible for design, development, and leading, of EHS programs for Hillenbrand Operating Companies and Functions, and identifying the strategy for the global group that will enable success. Hillenbrand employs a matrix organization with the EHS function controlled from a corporate level for program design, policy, & procedures aspect. Organizationally the EHS Global Director leads a Operating Company EHS Managers that assist locations with implementation of Hillenbrand’s EHS strategy, execution of program aspect, and assuring that Corporate wide tools such as software, training, and assessments, are used to provide feedback on program success and individual site performance. At all times ensure that Hillenbrand goals and objectives are reflected, and in-line with best practices in the health and safety of associates and protection of the environment that Hillenbrand operates.

Job Description
- Development of materials for programs and projects for a Hillenbrand Safety Management Systems (SMS) and other EHS improvement tools to drive implementation and improvement through all Operating Companies and Functions.
- Provide structure, training, and support toward SMS implementation for Hillenbrand sites
- Conducts meetings, events for sharing of best practices within and across regions.
- Develop schedules and teams for internal health, safety & environmental audits.
- Conduct assessments of progress toward Hillenbrand objectives on a regular basis and provide feedback to both plants and Senior Leadership.
- Design & develop cross regional activities such as global conferences or group training events.
- Coordinate and track corrective actions from Site to ensure compliance and continuous improvements.
- Support regions & plants with outside agencies in areas of permits, due diligence, and items of non-conformance.
- Contribute to succession and progression activities within the EHS group.
- Create and participate in activities that keep the EHS program current and leading edge.
- Monitor and update EHS database as necessary to provide user tools that support both the plants needs and program overall measurement.
- Provide documentation and information to Senior Leadership in support of EHS systems.
- Provide support for Loss Prevention and Security Audits at plants
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, EHS discipline, or similar with 10+ years’ experience in Environmental, Health and Safety.
- Experience leading global teams – both through direct management and through matrix dotted-line relationships.
- Direct involvement with EHS strategy and program development, and then successful implementation and sustainment.
