Good Food Fellow
Position Title: Good Food Journalism Fellow
Who Are We
We are a global community that is driven by the creative spirit of Los Angeles. Through an inspiring mix of music, news, and culture, we bring joy and connection – online, in-person and on the radio. Always excellent, accessible, and often unexpected, we are a constant source of fuel for the imagination, education and good vibes. At least, that is what our members tell us.
As NPR’s flagship member station in Southern California for more than 30 years and a community service of Santa Monica College, KCRW is the next generation of public media.
How You’ll Make An Impact
KCRW’s Good Food seeks to foster future food writers through a six-month fellowship for an aspiring journalist. The program will facilitate an exchange of ideas, perspectives and experiences through original, bold reporting.
An important outcome for the program is to provide our audiences with thoughtful coverage about how food is produced in California and about food consumption in our state and beyond. The Fellow will be empowered to incorporate their interests, experiences and perspectives into their project. Reporting may include agricultural sustainability, food policy, water issues, labor practices from farm to table and the role of mass production and growing demand on our food supply.
The Good Food Fellow will report to the Chief Content Officer. The fellowship is designed as a 400-hour program over a duration of six months, with roughly 15-18 hours dedicated per week. Professional development, mentoring, skill assessment and hands-on experience will be cornerstones of the experience, as the Fellow works with KCRW’s award-winning news and culture team.
