Purpose
Create and update design materials in both print and digital formats for Latino Studies which includes: the Department of Mexican American and Latino/a Studies, the Center for Mexican American Studies, and the Latino Research Institute.
Responsibilities
- Produce visually engaging and professional quality graphic design and layout of brochures, catalogs, policy briefs, calendars, posters, flyers, newsletters, displays, signage, advertisement reports, surveys and other web or printed materials including promotional items for Latino Studies. Incorporate existing brand assets in the creation of new physical and digital materials when appropriate, but also be capable of innovating creatively for fresh new approaches. Consults with immediate supervisor to determine the most appropriate method for preparing work to meet production deadlines and may consult with clients on project needs and adjustments.
- Create logos and promotional items for student groups, labs, and research projects, and serve as backup in photographing or videotaping events or other events as assigned.
- Manage website and create digital assets for social media and assists in posting according to specified protocol.
- Collaborates with internal and external printing entities and converts files to appropriate formats for each specific project. Maintain inventory of relevant materials, supplies, equipment.
- Research current trends in format and material for innovative graphic design projects and research content relevant to Latino Studies topics.
Bachelor's degree. One year of experience in graphic design and production. Familiarity with tools and software commonly used in all aspects of graphic design. Ability to work collaboratively and professionally with faculty, staff, and student groups. Ability to meet deadlines reliably and consistently. Work performed on multiple projects concurrently, under pressure of rigid deadlines and time limitations. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Additional experience in graphic design. Familiarity with UT policy and procedure.
Salary Range
$50,000 + depending on qualifications

Employment Eligibility:

Retirement Plan Eligibility:
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
