Role: Group Controller (reporting to CFO)

Location: Washington D.C. Area or New York City (Remote candidates also will be considered)

Mission:

To partner with the CFO and executive team to build a best-in-class wealth management business, capable of onboarding 10+ acquisitions per year & maintaining accurate financials for purposes of internal + external reporting.

Job Description:

We’re seeking a controller and own all corporate accounting operations, including financial close process, internal and external reporting, detailed financial analyses and integration of the accounting tech stack. They will both run a team at HQ as well as advise and work with all regional and OpCo company finance teams on onboarding, driving consistency in accounting policies, consolidation and reporting. This is a new position at an early-stage HoldCo where the Controller will work closely with the CFO to build systems and processes that can support a high-paced M&A strategy from scratch. This also emphasizes the need for “scrappy” candidates who are willing to take on basic but essential business responsibilities while we build out the team over time

Role Requirements:

  • CPA Required
  • 6+ years of experience applying GAAP standards, complex accounting pronouncements, including ASC 805 (business combinations) to a business growing organically and via acquisition
  • M&A Accounting and experience of the financial standup of acquired businesses
  • Experience of leading the consolidation of the books across a company
  • Familiarity with ERP implementations (ideally Microsoft Business Central) is preferred
  • Experience of leading audit and tax workstreams
  • Lead accounting on-boarding of new companies (with specialist/consultant help)
  • Experience of managing teams at various levels, including regional pods and OpCo accounting teams
  • Controllership experience from a Wealth Management/RIA environment is highly preferred
