Position Description

Position: FOSTER/ADOPTIVE PARENT TRAINER

Status: Contract

General Description

Under general supervision of the Program Director, the Trainer demonstrates knowledge of the child welfare system by facilitating pre-service and continuing education to foster and adoptive families.

Reporting Relationships

This position reports directly to the Program Supervisor

Qualifications (required At Time Of Offer)

    • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services preferred.
    • Current foster or adoptive parent in good standing
    • Excellent written and verbal communication/presentation skills with demonstrated ability to speak to both small and large groups.
    • Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
    • Prior experience with Microsoft Office.
    • Able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
    • Satisfaction of all employment eligibility and Agency hiring requirements.
    • Must be willing to work in a variety of surrounding counties including Clare, Gladwin, Arenac, Isabella, Midland, Bay, Gratiot, Saginaw, Clinton, Shiawassee, Eaton, Ingham, Tuscola, Lapeer, Sanilac, Huron, St. Clair.
Responsibilities (illustrative and not intended as inclusive; specific responsibilities may vary):

    • Facilitate pre-service foster, adopt, kinship training as assigned by the Program Supervisor in accordance with MDHHS policy.
    • Complete all necessary referral, and pre-service documentation and submit to the Program Supervisor.
    • Input and maintain contact information in the appropriate outcome tracking spreadsheet.
    • Maintains a flexible work schedule.
    • Performs other Agency-related duties as assigned.

    • Complies with the Agency's Employment Policies & Procedures and Standards of Conduct.
    • Maintains confidentiality in all matters related to Agency affairs and refrains from internal and external discussions related to any employee, consumer, financial, or administrative issue except as required as part of job performance.
