What You’ll Do:

Accounting plays a fundamental role in understanding our business and guiding our strategic direction. We’re seeking a Head of Accounting to build and lead our accounting operations. You’ll be the primary point of contact for our current external accountants and work to build your own team within Mainstay. The perfect hire will be a principled leader, who thrives at creating structure in a complex organization, is not afraid to roll up their sleeves, and is excited to play a critical role in building something new.



Your Role at a Glance:

  • Build and lead the Accounting function at Mainstay
  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations including: financial reporting, reviewing / preparing month-end journal entries, tax planning and compliance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Prepare technical accounting analysis related to new transactions and new or evolving products
  • Lead the administration of our equity compensation program
  • Lead coordination with external auditors and accountants
  • Lead ERP transition and other implementation projects
  • Define & implement ASC 606 revenue recognition policies, including establishing contract templates and reviewing in-flight deals to ensure compliance with policies
  • Define and implement process improvements and automation to reduce the time to close and improve the accuracy of underlying accounting records
  • Special projects and ad-hoc analyses as directed by Leadership



What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Accounting
  • CPA license
  • Either: a) Combination of: 3+ years of Big 4 accounting experience & 3+ years of progressive experience in a relevant industry setting; or b) 8+ years of progressive experience in a relevant industry setting
  • 2+ years of experience within a SaaS company
  • Experience with ERP implementations (NetSuite preferred)
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects while wearing multiple different hats
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
