Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all accounting-related workstreams, including daily, weekly, and monthly functions associated with accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, trial balance, general ledger, budget & expense management, cash / bank reconciliations, and payroll, among others
- Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements, including implementation and oversight in the Company’s transition to GAAP from cash basis accounting
- Support improvement and automation of accounting processes associated with revenue, accounts payable, accounts receivable, operating expenses, expense management, among others
- Oversee execution of certain treasury-related workstreams including payments, invoicing, and collections processes
- Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely reporting
- Coordinate and manage the annual audit process, including liaising with external auditors and preparing necessary documentation.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance, including monthly variance and flux analysis, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement
- Develop and maintain effective internal control systems to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial records
- Help maintain, optimize, and support ongoing integrations of financial systems, including integrations between Volo Tech, Stripe (payments processing), Sage Intacct (Accounting System), Divvy (expense management), among others
- Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to senior management to support business decision-making
- Ensure compliance with all relevant tax regulations and filings, working closely with tax advisors and authorities as needed
- Develop, manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and professional development
- Collaborate with other departments to support monthly financial reporting, annual strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes
- Stay updated on industry trends, accounting standards, and regulatory changes, ensuring the company's accounting practices remain current and compliant
MUST-HAVES
- Bachelor's Degree from in Accounting or Finance-related field (MBA a plus)
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally with 3-5 years in a leadership role
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Experience with accounting software and ERP systems
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities, with a proven track record of developing and mentoring staff.
- Self-starter with excellent time management skills and a proven ability to work in a fast-paced operating environment
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- High level of integrity and ethical standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (excel, powerpoint)
- Professional certification such as CPA, CFM, or CMA preferred
- Expertise in M&A transaction accounting operations or accounting advisory in for business with M&A roll-up strategy
- Experience working within the events, sports entertainment, or broader business to consumer industries
- Experience working in rapidly evolving start-up environment
- Proficiency in Sage Intacct, bill.com, Divvy Expense management, Rippling payroll, Stripe payments processing
- Expertise in overseeing financial systems implementation & integration, accounting automation, and other accounting process optimization & data flow
- Pay Range: $180,000 - $210,000
