Head of Leadership & Career Development (Talent Development Senior Manager)

We are seeking a Head of Leadership & Career Development (Talent Development Senior Manager) to serve as an experienced and strategic talent development leader within the human capital team. As the Head of Leadership & Career Development, you will lead global leadership and career development solutions for Capital, playing a crucial role in developing and driving the organization's strategic talent priorities in support of the company's business objectives. You will foster a culture of continuous learning, professional growth, and skill-building for associates and executives alike; designing, influencing, and executing transformative leadership and development programming.

Specific Responsibilities Include

  • Partnering with the talent leadership team to develop and execute leadership and career development strategies and measure business impact.
  • Designing and driving development initiatives in support of organizational objectives including current and future skill needs, enhancing leadership capabilities, supporting associate career growth and pathing, skills development, coaching, and high potential development; similarly, partnering with the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion team to oversee the delivery of DEI development.
  • Championing newly defined leadership expectations and driving forward subsequent talent development strategy design and programming.
  • Overseeing projects to ensure successful delivery, creating an engaging team culture, and ensuring a high level of performance.
  • Facilitating leadership development programs and presentations with global senior business leaders; collaborating with senior leaders to create a culture of mentorship and leader-led development opportunities.
  • Partnering closely with HR business partners and centers of expertise on performance, talent, and leadership needs.
  • Staying current on talent management trends, advancements, and best practices in learning and development, leadership, and career development; contributing innovative ideas, sharing global talent trends across HR and with the business.
  • Monitoring, measuring, and evaluating the effectiveness of development initiatives and solutions and making necessary adjustments for continuous improvement and improved outcomes.
  • Leading the leadership and career development team, providing coaching and development to team members, and setting the tone to ensure Capital Group's philosophy is reflected throughout the organization through constant modeling and support of core beliefs.
  • Partnering with vendor organizations and managing relationships with external training providers to deliver training and provide best-in-class content and resources.
  • Overseeing leadership and career development annual budgets, driving scale and simplicity, and adjusting priorities as needed.

  • Demonstrated success in communicating a vision, influencing senior leaders, leading a team, and collaborating to deliver results; a strategic leader and an operator.
  • Expertise in adult learning and talent assessment methodologies, implementing creative and sustainable development solutions with an understanding of how learning and development technology is constantly evolving.
  • Passion for learning and development with expert knowledge of performance consulting, career development, and experience developing leadership capabilities.
  • A track record of engaging business leaders, demonstrating courage and the ability to challenge conventional thinking and bring new ideas to the business.
  • Proven ability partnering strategically with business leaders to understand and implement holistic learning strategies, drive adoption, and measure results to demonstrate overall business outcome.
  • Experience developing strategic points of view and thought leadership around talent and development.
  • Exceptional facilitation skills.
  • Strong communication skills and a proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and effectively communicate at all levels of an organization; ability to get buy-in from senior leaders during periods of transformation.
  • Excellent cross-functional team leadership with the ability to inspire high standards of excellence; a developer, mentor, and coach of others who can create excitement around a compelling vision in a collaborative, team-oriented fashion.
  • Ability to cut through complexity and ambiguity and prioritize effectively, setting clear goals and operating in an agile fashion.
  • At least ten years of progressive learning and development experience with a focus on leadership and career development.
  • At least five years of experience leading high-performing teams.
  • Talent development and/or HR experience within a financial services firm of similar scale and complexity is ideal; in-house experience within companies known for strong development functions is a priority.
  • A Bachelor/Master's degree in a related field is preferred (for example, Organizational Behavior/Leadership, Instructional Design, Human Resource Management, or Business Administration, etc.).

Southern California Base Salary Range $171,968-$292,346

New York Base Salary Range $182,310-$309,927

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital's annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
