The Role:

The Folklore Group is searching for an experienced Head of Marketing to lead our overall marketing strategy and execution across all of our business verticals and marketing channels. This role is a key part of the company’s leadership team and will have a significant impact on membership growth and fueling sales revenue. This individual will oversee developing strategies across brand marketing, digital marketing, community development, partnerships, and events. A key part of the role is managing a team of full time employees and freelancers to aid with execution of strategy and hitting weekly KPIs. This is an opportunity to join at the ground level and work closely with the CEO to develop a barrier-breaking, world-class company that will change the landscape of how independent brands globalize their business.


Responsibilities

Strategic Development

  • Collaborate with the CEO to set and manage marketing objectives, goals, and KPIs.
  • Develop detailed marketing strategies across brand marketing, product marketing, digital marketing, community development, partnerships, and events.
  • Develop internal processes to achieve business objectives & KPIs.
  • Analyze and leverage consumer, market, behavioral, channel, and category trends as we as user and customer data to consistently adapt marketing strategies.
  • Develop concepts and ideas for monthly content, promotion, events, and overall marketing calendar.
  • Create a go to market strategy for product and feature launches in collaboration with the Director of Product.


Digital Marketing

  • Manage freelance Email Marketing Consultant’s generation of marketing emails. Review all email content before its released, tracking performance, and providing feedback for improvement.
  • Manage the full time Social & Community Manager’s social media posting. Reviewing social media content before its release, tracking performance, and providing feedback for improvement.
  • Manage external ad agency’s development and execution of paid search, social, and shopping advertising. Provide all necessary assets, messaging and create any necessary landing pages. Review ads before release, track performance, and provide feedback for improvement.
  • Manage the freelance Editorial and Copywriter’s content creation to ensure our websites are following SEO best practices.


Brand / Product Marketing

  • Consistently make updates to our websites and social media channels to ensure our brand messaging and design is consistent and up to date according to new releases and updates.
  • Provide briefs to freelance designers to create assets that fit with our overall brand image and messaging.
  • Occasionally lead the organization and hiring of a production team to create video and photo content for us to use for ads and our digital channels. Create concepts for shoot, provide overall direction, and be on set when necessary.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Product and Marketplace Manager to ensure our membership platform and consumer shop aligns with brand messaging and design.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Product to ensure all membership and product features are being highlighted in the best way possible across our platforms through the creation of graphics, video, and imagery.


Partnerships - Individual Contributor

  • Conceptualize ideas for potential strategic partnerships that could lead to membership growth and increased sales revenue.
  • Oversee the project management and execution of all strategic partnerships.


Community Development

  • Manage the full time Social & Community Manager’s community engagement in WhatsApp community channel. Reviewing social media content before its release, tracking performance, and providing feedback for improvement.
  • Manage freelance Editorial and Copywriter’s creation of blog and educational content. Reviewing content before its release, tracking performance, and providing feedback for improvement.


Events

  • Manage full time Social & Community Manager’s execution of in person and digital brand community events. Reviewing event briefing documents, checking in to ensure deadlines and deliverables are being met, tracking performance, and providing feedback for improvement.
  • Source potential sponsors and partners for in person events.
  • Be on site at key events to oversee smooth running of the show.

Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of marketing experience across verticals
  • 3+ years of startup or small business experience
  • Experience managing and hiring a team of 5+
  • Product marketing experience
  • E-commerce marketing experience
  • Experience in the retail, fashion, or design industries
