This is a role well suited to an ambitious professional, looking for the next step in their career. As a Head, Package Engineering, Laboratory Diagnostics you will be responsible for:

• Development of a global package engineering group and strategic vision with emphasis on sustainability strategies and ensuring the organization’s compliance with global packaging regulations and requirements.
• Work as liaison with R&D, Content and Labeling and Supply Chain regarding needs for product packaging.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with cross functional partners / leaders relative to business and functional requirements as well as strong collaborative relationships with Content Development teams, Manufacturing/Supply Chain, Quality Management, Marketing, R&D, etc., as well as external suppliers / business partners supporting the life sciences businesses.
• Ensure the quality of packaging deliverables; develop and maintain packaging quality requirements, procedures and guidance related to product packaging.
• Lead and direct the work of others.
• Oversees the development and ensure the quality of product packaging deliverables, taking into consideration both the goals of the company and the needs of customers/users.
• As the head of Package Engineering for the Laboratory Diagnostics businesses, you will leverage your deep expertise in end-to-end package development to ensure a 360 perspective on packaging from product development through execution into manufacturing.
• The head of Package Engineering identifies, plans, and directs the team ensuring utilization of best practices and state-of-the-art strategies to ensure compliance to requirements based upon changing international regulatory, distribution, ISO standards and import-export laws.
• Partner with Supply Chain (SCM) / Manufacturing sites, Content Development & Product Labeling (C&L)), Regulatory and Distribution Centers (DC), as well as business leaders in areas of new product development and commercial product support to ensure all packaging meets global, local business and operational requirements.

• Strong medical device / diagnostics business acumen and the ability to influence across functions and up the ladder.
• Strength in creating and ensuring delivery of a strategic vision and 3-5 year plan for new packaging organization.
• Own and drive Packaging Sustainability Roadmap and execution, including facilitation / tracking of sustainability data and metrics (e.g. EU sustainability requirements)
• Utilize creative problem solving and negotiation skills to develop the best solutions to deliver state-of- the art packaging solutions.
• Work with packaging suppliers to develop, prototype and introduce new or changes to components.
• Develop, drive & execute a harmonized approach to product packaging across sites.
• Facilitate standardization / consolidation of packaging technology across sites.
• Experience in operational excellence and other improvement strategies and be seen as a change agent.
• Develop a package engineering team, providing leadership and direction ensuring accuracy, quality, and delivery of all packaging to support the Lab Solutions (LD) businesses.
• Identify and drive alignment cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Regulatory, Quality, Legal, and Marketing, regarding packaging development and improvement opportunities.
• Ability to influence across functions and up the ladder.
• Collaborate with European and American distribution centers to solve distribution packaging challenges.
• Collaborate with functional leadership to initiate and drive project proposals related to packaging sustainability and other package development and improvement projects, including integration into operations.
• Monitor and incorporate industry best practices and innovation into our packaging strategies and plan.
• Leverage strong knowledge and experience in ASTM and ISO standards, project management, printing technologies, package testing, CAD, statistical analysis, structural design, and packaging materials / substrates expertise.
• Deep knowledge of packaging equipment and packaging automation technologies as well as label materials, including interaction with on-line printing technologies and applications.
• Facilitate standardization / consolidation of packaging technology across sites.
  
  

Required skills to have for the success of this role

• Required B.A., preferable focus in Package Engineering, Packaging Science, or Engineering
• Required 10+ knowledge of Package Engineering, Packaging Operations including regulatory requirements in the Medical Device or Laboratory Diagnostics Business
• Required 8+ years in Packaging Leadership preferably in Medical Device and/or Laboratory Diagnostics
• 20% travel
• Demonstrated experience working in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry.

The pay range for this position is $200,000 - $245,000 U.S. dollars annually; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, as well as where the work will be performed. The annual incentive target is (20%) of base pay. Siemens Healthineers offers a variety of health and wellness benefits including paid time off and holiday pay.
