Housing Director

TITLE: Housing Director

REPORTS TO: Executive Director

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt, Full Time

COMPENSATION: $95,000 per year. Plus benefits including: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid holidays, sick time, 401K plan, generous compensation philosophy

Since our founding in 2012, we have centered the East San Jose and Mayfair communities by providing impactful support in housing and homelessness prevention, immigration legal services, educational support, mental health services, and community organizing. Amigos has built a strong reputation in the local community by listening closely to the brilliance and resilience of the people who live, work, and raise families in East San Jose.

Position Overview:

The Housing Director is a Leadership position that is dedicated to leading Amigos’ Housing Programs to ensure that unhoused families successfully transition to permanent housing. The ideal candidate possesses over two years of experience working in a non-profit setting and understands Amigos’ mission and vision. The Housing Director has extensive knowledge of rendering case management through a 2-Gen lens and has a deep understanding of administering funds for Programs according to Federal, County and City funding requirements. Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Housing Director will oversee Housing Managers, interns and vendors affiliated with all Housing Programs. The Housing Director will be successful in the position if they are comfortable working with the unhoused population and advocating for housing opportunities for all.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversees activities for all assigned Unhoused Programs including outreach, enrollment and Program services
  • Provides supervision and training opportunities for Amigos Housing Program staff
  • Trains staff in screening participants for program eligibility in compliance with County and organization requirements
  • Ensures that all Housing Programs are in compliance with grant and organization requirements
  • Assists the Executive Director in negotiations with contractors relating to Amigos’ Housing Programs
  • Ensures compliance with HMIS requirements in accordance to grant standards for Amigos’ Housing Programs
  • Oversees creation and submission of quarterly reports as appropriate
  • Develops and implements quarterly action plans for all Housing Programs assigned
  • Manages, supports and assesses assigned Housing Program Managers
  • Keeps the Executive Director fully informed on conditions, opportunities, issues, and challenges for Amigos de Guadalupe as it pertains to Housing Programs assigned
  • Assists in grant writing process for Unhoused Programs as needed
  • Monitors Housing program budgets
  • Participates in all Leadership team meetings, initiatives and events that support Amigos’ mission
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Fluent in English and Spanish
  • MA or BA, degrees or equivalent
  • Demonstrated management capabilities with a minimum of two years leading/managing grant funded programs in a non-profit organization
  • Must be willing to submit to and pass a background check
  • Good cross-cultural and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of and experience with capacity building programs;
  • Be well versed in the use and implementation of HMIS protocols and standards
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications, Google Suites and HMIS
  • Possesses a valid California Driver’s License

Physical Demands:

To perform essential functions for the role, you should be able to:

  • Speak, listen, and communicate with both adults and children
  • Use hands or fingers to handle objects, tools, or controls
  • Walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally lift or move up to 30 pounds
