HR Summer Intern - Early Career Program Development

Moss’ Early Career Program (internship function) participates in HR onboarding, integrating, coaching, developing, and retaining early talent within Moss. Required availability: April 1–12, 2024 (training part-time remotely and in person) and April 15–August 9, 2024 (full-time).

Who are we looking for? The ideal candidate has proven exposure to student engagement and quantitative and qualitative research, is a learner, self-starter, solution provider, adaptable resource, and actively listens to provide exceptional people services.

What will you do this summer? You will work closely with Moss’ Program Advisor to

Learn, Train, Earn & Upskill

  • Connect your classroom knowledge to practical experiences you will have in this paid internship role
  • Visit Solar Energy and Construction Management job sites to understand project lifecycles and how you can support team members with their priorities as they relate to early career professionals and our program
  • Meet with Business Leaders and Human Resources Professionals to understand their function, strategies, and priorities
  • Identify departmental processes and act as a resource for paraprofessionals

Support Moss Team Members & Intern Candidates: Talent Acquisition (Onboarding & Recruiting/Retention)

  • Assist with onboarding paperwork completion, inventories, and employee swag distribution
  • Connect employees with pre-employment resources for onboarding
  • Coordinate and execute new hire outings, networking events, and corporate meetings
  • Communicate professionally via email, phone, and text. Follow-up to inquiries, expected promptly
  • Perform data entry and administrative tasks, along with other duties assigned

Perform Research, Execute Employee Engagement Initiatives, Facilitate Development Presentations: Talent Development

  • Compile HR metrics, update spreadsheets, reports, and employee files
  • Curate training requests from program participants
  • Validate data for college recruiting, including editing job descriptions and updating department references
    • Support programs within the organization as needed, such as marketing, branding, social media, etc.
    • Develop reports and compliance metrics
    • Support succession process with interview set up, resume screening, and offers for promotions and conversion
  • Schedule meetings using Microsoft Outlook with varied-level professionals to support program advisor
  • Research market data and information, gather content from teams and facilitate presentation
  • Support advisory reviews for survey results. Research and provide quantitative and qualitative summaries

    • Future program enhancements
    • Develop training aids for department and document best practices
    • Collaborate with program advisor and Marketing Team to assess, develop, and roll out content for Moss’ orientation experience
Required Skills/Abilities

  • More than intermediate knowledge and proficiency in PowerPoint, Word, and Excel, and exposure to the Microsoft Suite/Office
  • Learn new programs and tools quickly
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving

Education/Experience/Qualifications

  • Familiarity with laws involving employment, HR, and HR policies
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, industrial psychology, or a related field
  • Excellent research skills and the ability to gather and synthesize information effectively
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
