Hybrid Technical Writer

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Researches, writes, edits, and proofreads technical data for use in documents, manuals, and procedures
  • Prepares, reviews, revises, and maintains all program technical documents including system design, system integration, system operations, testing, and user documentation
  • Consults with engineers, software developers, and subject matter experts in order to develop various documents, white papers, and point papers
  • Ensures technical documentation is accurate, complete, meets government specifications, and adheres to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format, and style
  • Establishes style guidelines and standards for program texts and illustrations
  • Reviews documentation prior to delivery to the customer and correcting for grammar, style, formatting, graphics, accuracy, and overall quality
  • Supports white papers, proposal development, or other technical papers as needed
  • Supports training documentation development to include slide presentations, user guides, and IETMs
  • Other duties as required
  • Hybrid / telework schedule - 3 days onsite & 2 days remote

Minimum Skills & Requirements

  • Active Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in English or related technical discipline
  • Two (2) years of experience as a Technical Writer
  • Proficiency in editing and formatting documents in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Application of craft, vocational or administrative skills, and methods taught in specialized training and/or learned through formal apprenticeships
  • Intermediate level of proficiency to work on assignments of standard difficulty
  • Ability to manage time and project tasks effectively to meet deadlines, communicating about project status along the way
  • An eye for detail, with keen observation skills and a commitment to carefully checking over the work of self and others to deliver documents of consistent quality, with very minimal errors

Desired Skills & Requirements

  • Initiative and assertive to start a document from scratch, gathering the content, style/format guidelines, people, and resources necessary to complete the document with excellence
  • People skills to develop a good working relationship with the customer, listening attentively to their feedback and concerns so their often changing desires and needs can be addressed in future documents
  • Experience using automated deliverable tracking and submission tools

SRC IS A CONTRACTOR FOR THE U.S. GOVERNMENT, THIS POSITION WILL REQUIRE U.S. CITIZENSHIP AS WELL AS, A U.S. GOVERNMENT SECURITY CLEARANCE AT THE SECRET LEVEL WITH TOP SECRET / SCI ELIGIBILITY
